I fully agree with you, track back / breadcrumb is a core function for an outdoor / mountaineering watch. Right now, there’s always half of the track missing which has already been reported to suunto several months ago. So it should be a well known issue.

Someone wrote there that a fix was probably scheduled for the last update, so I hope it will at least come with the next update.

@rooldaa official Statement would be great from some suunto nerds - if the Problem now is fixed or Not! Seems a little bit Like if there is no accident we have time and time until we will fix this KNOWN Problem.
@rooldaa the Problem here is knowing since Februar this year (Look in the linked Post) now we have May… Seems not like first priority in the suunto software Team…but hey what new Features we can Bring Out emojiis for example? Really cannot believe this prioritys

How do you know that emojis got priority about this one?
Do you have an idea what was behind the disappearing start of the breadcrumb?

does anyone of you have an idea whether the issue of disappearing breadcrumb line / missing track back feature will be addressed with the next update?

Everybody‘s so excited here about the upcoming update and it would be super cool to know something more about that

@ortles what I know for sure: there was a software change to address this, and some testers said the issue is fixed for them. As you know the issue was not happening always, so I cannot be sure that there are no corner cases where this still happens.

If it happens with the new firmware, it is important to report it as soon as possible (with logs and everything) to have it fixed as soon as possible.

Another super valuable question. Will there be an app update as well? There were some features rumored that would probably need some new room in the app, like cycle tracking or floors climbed.

But yes, there should be also an app update to bring said features from beta to production.

free is 100% marketing bs, you should know that

manufacturing a watch is cheap, support, hosting and maintenance are the costs

@isazi It’s not free, because for the price of a watch (the top-of-the-range SUUNTO) at 800€, you can expect regular updates so you can benefit from new features for 2 years. We still don’t have all the SUUNTO Race ones, for example.
I’ve been a fan of SUUNTO watches since the Spartan, which was a disaster with nothing inside, and I’ve been patient because I’ve bought (with my wife) all the top-of-the-range models that have come out so far, with the SV and the SR for my wife. What we like most is the design of the watches and the fact that it’s a European company, because in terms of software, there’s a lot of catching up to do. SUUNTO has been chasing its tail for 8 years now, finally producing a finished watch, and the pace has quickened since the company was taken over by a Chinese group. It’s a shame, but the
consumer benefits. However, some interesting features are still missing, such as on-board music (consistent with SUUNTO headphones) or NFC and complete sleep tracking.
This is a step in the right direction, but unfortunately without clear and reliable communication, which can lead to frustration.
I remain a SUUNTO fan, but more clarity would be welcome.

@Frederick-Rochette you should actually not buy a product with the expectation of it to one day become what you like it to be. Better buy what you want today, and regard every feature update as a free gift.

If you need music playback in your watch, better get one that has it.

Perhaps there is a reason for the delay and no one promised you a firmware update on a specific date. A lot of folks work very hard behind the scenes to deliver firmware that is as bug free as possible with as many features as possible. I suppose you would rather have a partially finished update with known bugs??? Or, you cannot go on a vacation you already paid for until you fix a bug? Your family can go but you cannot? BTW, one of the field test engineers was very recently let go among the employees you may have heard were terminated. Perhaps that alters timelines…
My understanding ( I am not a Suunto employee) is that Suunto does not communicate dates or descriptions of upcoming updates.
