What do you expect from the next update?

Built-in Strava Segment SupportThis would be nice! Suunto does have S+ guide for handling Strava live segments but it is quite minimalistic. The thing that bothers me the most is that there is no way to tell which segment I am approaching and to choose from multiple segments that may start at the same place. The latter is actually quite common because many trail running segments start at trailheads but either have different lengths or diverge later.
Another thing that would be really nice to have is to see segments on the map for navigation. There are some segments that are complicated and difficult to follow, especially when we are talking about longer FKT like segments (or even actual FKTs). I think this would be much easier if segments implementation was native.
It is worth mentioning 3 things since we are talking about Strava segments.
-
Ability to navigate and follow a live Strava segment. Suunto is the only brand that allows this, perhaps because segments are implemented as S+ guide. With all other brands (Garmin, Coros, Polar), you can either follow a route or follow a segment, but not both at the same time. If segments become native, this should not be lost.
-
Ability to track downhill RUNNING segments. Only Garmin can do this. All other brands point to Strava saying that Strava blocks ALL downhill segments, but obviously that isn’t true because of the Garmin example.
-
The number of synced segments. I think because Suunto implements segments as an S+ guide is has a low limitation of only 20 segments. In practice this makes this feature quite unusable. After switching to Suunto from Garmin I have pretty much stopped using the live segments feature - that’s how basic and limiting it is.
If I was choosing between brands, for me live segment support would be a significant factor. But personally I don’t think Suunto would invest any efforts in this feature.

@sky-runner That does not solve the problem that the watch is not able to switch.
I didn’t say it it solves the problem. My comment was to emphasize that the problem is actually bigger than most people may realize.
-
- Toggle the flashlight on/off with a double press of a button, without having to navigate through the menus.
- Keep heart rate recording active when an activity is paused.
In the Suunto app:
- Add a calendar view showing the scheduled SuuntoPlus Guides (workouts) for each day.

I would love it!
-
@enriqueescoms definitely & have your personal calendar events on there too so you don’t forget to put the bins out for example !

-
- Getting a reliable heart rate reading without having a fixed heart rate around 90 beats per minute during HIIT training or jogging. No cadence lock at 160 beats per minute. I’d like to trust the wrist heart rate measurement and not have to fall back on the chest strap.
*Revision of the Resources app, on which Race 2 is completely useless. Value doesn’t drop below 80%.

Maybe a silly question… do you really expect an update? And if so I think it will be a fraction of the functions the 2nd Gen watches got in the last months - right? So no features “unknown” features
-
@VoiGAS We know update is coming with already decided and tested features. So this wishlist is probably for the next year
Only question mark is of course Vertical 1. -
@VoiGAS as a Vertical 1 owner, I really expect just bug fixes.
-
@danutz you should get a subset of what Race and Race S have, caused by the limited resources of the Vertical compared to these 2 other watches of the same generation.
-
-
@VoiGAS Damn, as many of others in this thread I did not notice that it is Vertical 1 specific thread. My bad

My Vertical is perfect as it is, so my wishlist is empty, I do not use it all the time so did not notice any annoying bugs that needs fixing. -
-
@Victor-Hugo-Santoyo eso sería muy útil como me Garmin FR955

-
@Woodster Have you tried creating an interval workout in Suunto? The notifications work fine. Check the activity settings to make sure notifications are not turned off.
-
@MarTej_cz yes - the actual interval sounds works, just that it’d be nice to have a 5,4,3,2,1s countdown as it takes time to get up to speed

-
@Woodster Personally, it gives me a signal 3 seconds before start or end… 3,2,1 changes the rest and action screen.
-
@MarTej_cz You’re right when done as a Suunto Guide then it gives you a 3s count down - just created a short 15s test workout to check:

I mainly use the built-in intervals feature so didn’t realise the guides do a count down - I hope they can add the countdown there too as I much prefer the intervals screens. -
One annoying thing (unless I’m doing wrong) I experimented again tonight at training on the athletic track : I had some 4x (5x200m) series with 45’’ recover between 200m, and 2’30 between each rep.
I have programmed all my 5x200 with 45’ rec., and 2’30 recovery between each, but the coach wanted only 2’30 total between each rep (I should had programme 1’45 recovery. With actual behavior, you can’t shorten or skip a step of the guide, you can just follow the plan. My teammates using Garmin were able to do it.
-
It’s possible to skip a step of your interval workout on Run and Run 2
