I was frustrated because of missing VO2max and poor sleep recognition. I tried to do factory settings reset by selecting it from the watch settings. For nine hours I was seeing “This is taking longer than expected. Thank you for patience”.

I saw a useful hint here in this forum and the watch actually woke up after pressing top button for 12 secs. The watch was restored to safe state and I saw error message 1403, see below. All my personal are still present, so the factory reset failed.

Please tell me how to successfully perform hard reset! I’ve never seen a device that would fail a factory reset…

I had this situation too. I pressed middle and upper button at the same time until a screen with “service mode” appeared and the message to press upper button for 12 seconds. Afterwards I got the error message (shown in your picture), I pressed OK and the Vertical booted again, but without being restored to factory settings and I was glad to have not a dead device …

I would simply try the same procedure a second time. unless you want to check your watch’s behaviour after this soft reset and see if it has improved?

Thanks @freeheeler , another attempt worked like a charm. Now my SV is like a clean table again.
