I hate saying it, but my battery life woes (Suunto Race albeit) and seeing the same problems on other models have me looking long and hard at a switch to a MIP based, solar powered Garmin watch. I held out for a long time due to the price increase of switching to Garmin but I feel like I don’t get what I am promised with a Suunto and I can’t trust faceplate specs, specifically battery life. The only thing that would make me reconsider would be the reintroduction of a solar powered, MIP based Vertical 3 (or some new model?), which I highly doubt will happen.

Add extra option to Enable/disable sleep mode without sleep start-end time. Add breathing exercise/s for lowering blood presure (im 50 ) with the optional use of the metronome function to the Spark as well. Use screen as a safety beacon for cars and SOS signaling

Yes, it’s coming off at the connection of the strap to the watch. I just checked but the pin is moving properly and there is nothing in the watch lugs. Actually, I don’t know if, when it comes off, it’s the pin that retracts or if the bar is bending a bit…

@kuba1234 No, sorry, I understood the problem is in the software since a firmware update (not in the belt) but I was only thinking about getting one once the problem will be fixed then, cause buying a belt if the watch does not keep the connection is a bit wortless…

The problem is, that the display is way too bright in dark lightning conditions. It should be dimmed much more. I always have to activate do not disturbe in a dark room.

@Egika I hadn’t considered the points you raised (watch on the left vs. right wrist and the bike). I have to say I agree with them—thanks. With cycling, the distances are usually so great that I’ve never really compared the readings; I actually find it very precise. However, for hiking and ski mountaineering, I find my Vertical 1 less accurate than the 9 Peak, likely due to the sensor’s position. 9 peak pro instead has the sensor in the same position of vertical but only two little holes, and I find it a little more precise (my girlfriend has it) for uphill, gps vertical is better

@Squirrel Fair enough for bluetooth data sharing and weather and watch faces. The hotspot Im reffering to my laptop HAS connectivity to the internet because is the same 2.4GHz hotspot I use to connect my phone and download the offline map to my phone so the hotspot is actually healthy and working. I can actually see connected devices to the hotspot in my case both my phone OnePlus and the actual watch with device name Suunto-FCC6. Now the solution you are proposing (which I have tested) is problematic with my suunto app on my phone because I have created the 2.4GHz hotspot to my phone and I have tested it’s connectivity with another device(its discoverable and seen by another Xiaomi phone connecting and surfing). After I established the healthy and working hotspot on my phone I went to the proposed suunto app network list to add it to the watch BUT it’s not there it’s not “seen” by the suggested networks list of the Suunto App… Finaly after 2 days of trying tonight 18.09.2026 at 08:58 pm the suunto servers responded and downloaded with the exact same Laptop 2.4GHz hotspot connection … now I know it was a service unavailability problem or issue with the greek maps or issue with requests made from greece or who knows what … Thank the universe I managed to download because the moderator approval time is about 12hours which makes any communication slow and frustrating…

I also have small wrists. And although I wore the SV1 daily for more than a year, I “downgraded” to the 9PP for the comfort and simplicity. It’s easy enough to switch between watches in the Suunto App. I think the Vertical is a steal at current sale prices. I’d say go for it and keep your 9PP as well. They may be the last MIP watches Suunto ever produces.

I bring back this thread to life There is not much feedback with varia app. I’m considering buying a varia 820. On bike I use my Vertical has bike computer. My questions : has someone tested it with the app (which is supposed to work with varia 515 but no informations with 820) does you need to be on app screen to have the warnings or you can stay on a data screen or guidance screen and the warnings are displayed above ? Thanks if someone has been using the app and have feedback !
