S9P gets stuck in the "Saving" screen after finishing a session
-
@loopylou72 I don’t think there is a way to recover your activity.

This has happened twice with my S9Baro. Once, after 15 minutes I did a soft reset and I lost my activity, second time, after 10 min, I started pressing the buttons and suddenly the watch went to the summary screen. I’m telling you because if it happens again you can try pressing the buttons.
I have to say too, that has only happened twice in 3 years.

@jjpaz @isazi @Brad_Olwin. I have noticed that there are problems with at least some Suunto+. In particular with the fat burner the watch hangs when trying to advance the screen to the next after starting the exercise. It is a consistent behaviour. Good thing is that you can move back with fingers and then the behavious seems more normal. I think that it can be related to the initial moments of the activity/suunto+ activation (maybe for computing reasons?). Screen seems to respond normally after that, although in some ocassions take more time than usual to change.
Could you check if it is the same for you? S9P.

@cosme-costa I did press the buttons and nothing. It hung for at least 30mins but maybe I could have continued to press the buttons to snap it back. I was worried about losing my run as had done a hard effort but the soft reset lost it anyway. Did it again today (with phone as back up) so I guess was good for training… ; )

@loopylou72 No, in my case activities were lost. I ‘uploaded’ activity manually in Suunto App.

@Efejota The week the issues happened to me two times I were noticing that S9P was a bit slow. It seems to “lag” when changing between screens, for example following a track and switching between track and profile screens, sometimes the screen was frozen in the middle and I had to press button to switch screens.
After the factory reset I performed S9P seems “lighter” and faster. Perhaps issues were related to full storage or something like that after months of trainings, although I noticed that behavior after last update with Suunto Guides. I don’t know if it’s related or simply coincedence. -
@jjpaz mine is also quite slow at the moment - is there a guide as to when you should clear the watch by doing a hard reset??
-
@loopylou72
I would always avoid a hard reset unless it is necessary.
How do you quantify your watch is getting slow? How long do you wait in the saving screen? -
I tried again yesterday. The problem persists, but I finally discovered the exact behaviour. With Suunto+ burner activated, it is impossible to move to any other screen the first time that you get into that screen. If you press the upper button to switch screens nothing happens. The watch returns to its normal operation if the activity is paused and inmediately resumed. In fact, when resumed, the screen is not Suunto+, but the screen corresponding to the number of button press when freezed in the Suunto+. After that, you can change screens back and forth from Suunto+
I have not tried other Suunto+, but I think that the last time I used the climb one, it worked as a charm.

@Efejota Noticed the same behaviour on the Weather feature. I was hiking and navigating a route. As soon as I swiped to the Weather page, the watch seems to be stuck. I was unable to swipe left or right for a long time (10-20 sec). After a while the watch seems to respond again.
Edit:
Just tried it again, but I can’t reproduce the issue. The watch does scroll through all the pages with a small delay, but that delay has always been there. The watch did not reboot between the last activity and this test. -
I have checked today with Ghost Runner and the behaviour is the same. Screen freezes and returns to normal when paused/resumed. After that, moving between screens is normal. If replicated by others, this should be reported as a bug, shouldn’t it?

@Efejota I’ve used the ghost runner S+ app without issues, even recently. And we are pretty close to a new software release, so I’ll report this if it happens after the new release.
-
@isazi OK. Note, however, that it happened to me at least with two different Suunto+: Burner and Ghost Runner.

Same happened to me today. I had to press the upper left button for several seconds to un-stuck my watch.
Activity was lost afterwards which is not a big deal as it was just a simple commuting bike activity (with no S+ screen, no sensors, only the watch ohr and gps on performance mode).
I paused the activity 2 times.First time this happens since I got the watch in july 2021.
I sent the logs through the app. Let me know if you need anything else.
-
@taziden send me a message with your email ( the one you use in SA) and the time you sent the logs

Today my Peak 9 went blank mid run and then returned to the general time screen. I had to restart the activity. I was using a Styrd, HR armband and the Core body temp sensor with the Suunto Core Body temp app activated. I’ve used this app about 6 times and had no problems. It took a while to find the GPS when I restarted (usually instant). Would it have stopped due to the GPS dropping out (there was no obvious reason for the GPS to drop). I have not cleared activities since I got my watch - is it recommended to do this or doe the watch alert you if full? I will do a soft reset again…
-
@loopylou72 the watch crashed door some reason we don’t know. If it happens again sync with the app and send logs to Suunto, and then contact us.
-
@isazi OK thanks. I did a hard reset this time. Is there anyway to save custom sports modes when you reset? I have lost all mine
-
@loopylou72 Unfortunately, you have to create them again. There’s no way to retrieve the settings after a hard reset. It’s a feature that has been requested lots of times by others.
