Based on what I could see we are gonna get weather forecast into watches. Hope this will be back rolled to S9PP and fromer models.

@Tieutieu maps would need memory in GB size (like 16/32/64GB or so) to store some regions.
I am very sure, that S9PP does not have this capacity…

Fenix 1 already had “hacks” that enabled maps. If suunto could come up with a “newer” version of that hack, maybe it would help: like just download a small zone from the app, and then delete it.
For sure it seems easier that it is to implement, but…

@André-Faria ‘hacks’ are not reliable are presume?

@André-Faria its 2023 and if we learned something from hacks is that they don’t work eventually. (development wise)

Guess I didn’t express myself well. What I meant to say is that at that time that hack made possible a watch with low resources to have a function. Today with all the evolution, maybe we can use the same principle to have a function on a watch with less resources.
For sure the best is to have a full experience…

@Egika I think it depends in how much details you need. The Coros maps are quite small, but not very detailed (no street names, place names etc) on the picture you can see that the chosen area (blueish rectangle with blue dot) only would have 38 MB ). The S7 also had map tiles you could download, so let’s see 😁

                        @ChrisA right.
and you see, that the watch has some twenty something GB available 🙂

Next to the use of maps you would need to hink about how to transfer 1GB of map data into a watch that has only a BT connection…

I highly doubt that it would work well. And Suunto is not a company of “hacks”, I have got to know Suunto as a company with solutions that actually work and are well thought through.
They don’t deliver data of questionable quality just to show dome value.

But let’s see. Do we already know if the new watch will have maps anyway?

Ah yes, thats right, since the S9Ps don’t link to Computers anymore, that maybe difficult 😃. I am really curious, how the maps on the vertical will look like. I still find the maps on the Suunto 7 are the best maps out there, when it comes to sportswatches.

@ChrisA it’ll be interesting to see if they use maps similar to my S7. Pick your area and connect to wifi (or data) It’s been brilliant and I use the maps in new cities when I go exploring. The S7 screen is still in my opinion one of the best around.

new watch is not up to discussion… the rule is simple: if “Suunto and new and big” then: buy 😉

100% with you on this one! So am I right in thinking the rumour mill has it as a 49mm?

@MeazzaS9 Maybe that’s in CAD. In EUR maybe $700-800. Plus if you’re patient for a couple of months you might get it with a decent discount.
