Suunto Vertical is here
-
so far i am very happy with the watch. The Vertical really is a beauty. Completed 4 runs unfortunately she restarted on the third run after the first km. I hope this doesn’t become a bigger problem.
-
My only two wishes are world peace and the orange Vertical strap back in stock seems to be constantly sold out
-
@isazi I also reported it to Christopher of CoreBodyTemp during my tests and they wanted to contact Suunto.
-
legendary epic Ambit BLUE missing for now

Any colour you like.

I‘m not sure but I think it was not discussed yet… what is the function of the two yellow dots at the upper and lower button?
-
@lexterm77 there is an issue so it’s not working with Vertical, an update of the S+ app will solve this.

@isazi adesso 4.70.3

Got the Suunto vertical today, what a masterpiece 🤩 but now, suunto! You have dedicated a watch to ascend by calling it vertical. And I love collecting ascend meters on backcountry skiing. so now you have to add this ascend field here in order to get control over the VERTICAL meters I’m really curious how much total ascend I have on backcountry skiing. At least I have many gear and equipment tags I’m wondering how much ascend they have

@Brad_Olwin it is, but just in case, you have a scheduled structured workout for the day what you select at the begining. After it, you can add a S+ app as well.
If you want to select guide and S+ app from the list, that won’t work.Yes, it will be coming….a Guide and S+App. I have been running both for awhile now.
-
@Jole13 Force quit the app and restart, it should be ok, I have not had mine perpetually attempt to load the AGPS file.

I received my Vertical yesterday and had my first run today. Todays run was basically intervals of different intensities and duration. I used the OHR on the watch and also wore my H10 paired to a different device for comparison.
Much to my surprise the OHR on the run was virtually flawless. Each interval and recovery was accurately recorded and matched the H10. In fact the only dropout was on the H10.
The ability to use Suunto plus apps and Guides together is a big step. I originally wanted to use the Suunto Plus app Cadence along with my structured Guide but quickly noticed each marked lap from the Structured Guide reset the Cadence guidance so I had to turn the Cadence app off. But if this run was a steady state endurance run instead of multiple short intervals it would have worked great.
I think the Vertical is actually slightly faster than my recently reset S9 Peak Pro which itself is an improvement over past watches. Some reviews mention lag but I find it overall really pretty decent but could some improvement in widget scrolling. It isn’t necessarily Apple Watch fast but it is acceptable.
Overall I’m quite happy. I found the Peak Pro an excellent watch and the Vertical is a nice step forward.

@isazi can you explain what this looks like with an example photo?
-
@northeast_trekker the altitude graph during activity looks exactly as before, but instead of 10 minutes it now covers 1 hour.
-
Picked mine up this morning
-
@Stefan-Kersting I am confused about this. Why don’t you just use the calender isn’t it there ?
-
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos In the calendar you can check your ascend within a calendar year even sorted by different kind of sports. But you don’t find the number any place I would like to know: the overall ascend over several years like you find it on my screenshot (total activities, hours, distance and calories). There’s some place for an ascend field
I’m using tags to track my gear and in the example below you can see the overall stats for my suunto 9 Baro (S9B) and I beg suunto in me knees to add this data field 🫶If you’re going to the Analyse field on the training zone side you can just go back six years in your history and it’s not possible to move the graph, so you can’t get any stats older than 2017. We which had sunnto watches I while have collected lots of data that aren’t shown here and it would be nice to get further back in time in the analysis function

Today was the 4th training session I used SV. I’ve tried to compare it to S9PP. I expected that it will be as accurate in terms of measure distance and ascent but what surprised me a lot was OHR.
SV with OHR, PP with Smart HeartRate Strap
You say not bad? I say it’s perfect.
