@zhangschmidt but this is then a problem on Runna’s side. They have to interpret the manual (and Guide created) and auto laps individually…

@Christoph-Van-Laethem thank you, I had the same setup as yours (barring older Stryd and Vertical… Lucky you! ). I see many metrics (and power obviously) but never see Vertical Oscillation nor Ground Contact. I’ve been trying last 2 runs with Suunto+ after disconnecting as sensor… it seems to work so far, I’ll try more. The thing which bothers me is you do not see if Stryd connected when about to start… you start… miss the power info, stop, go to the Stryd app and check, then restart. Not great.

@Egika That’s the way. But I couldn’t find a way to see an overview of all my running parts afterwards in the app ( I see the single running parts but miss some overview like overall running distance, overall avg. pace/hr, …) The single running/cycling parts doesn’t count towards my running/cycling statistics as monthly distance, etc. If that would be possible it would be some quality improvement for me

@Tieutieu I really wish this is fixed soon! I don’t experience this issue all time but it comes and goes. I do suspect it is related to the use of the external HR sensor. By the way, in another 7 hours the battery level has dropped from 66% to 50%. Also, what nobody mentions is that this reduces the longevity of the battery. The battery has only so many charge-discharge cycles before it starts to lose capacity, perhaps about 300. So this isn’t just an inconvenience.

9 Peak Pro… ahh… 9 Peak was my first Suunto (and first sportwatch, not smartwatch). After 2 days I returned it and ordered 9 Peak Pro. Such a cool watch. I used it some time than there was discount for Suunto watches. There was bug that -40% or something was worked for Vertical 1 too (instead of older Suunto watches) plus I bought Refurbished one. I dont remember exactly price but it was like 1/2 for Refurb (came like brand new, just different box) I remember like after 24h they repaired that bug with promotion. I used Vertical 1 2 years, give my 9PP to my mom (she uses it to this day!). Moved to Race1 to try amoled, and decided to keep it, now using Race 2. That’s my Suunto story, but I’ll remember 9PP. Vertical was honestly my first watch I was so happy with (maps, so goood battery, tank build).

@Brad_Olwin said in Will OpenSuuntoPlus be coming to Suunto Run?: @thanasis said in Will OpenSuuntoPlus be coming to Suunto Run?: @JebClydeNC I don’t follow your rationale … You cannot be arguing that you lose something by having additional options … on the contrary, not having options means you lose the option of having something Well, I see @jebclydenc point. The Run has many S+ features built into the watch so fewer S+ features would be used. Second, if future S+ features require more memory that an older watch does not have that could be problematic. Theoretically, couldn’t Suunto have a setup where an app that has a demanding requirement not show up for Run users but only for those who meet the requirements? Feels like this objective is a QA user more than anything else. Alternatively, if someone on any watch downloads a S+ app and finds it “problematic” then they can remove that app (and ideally, report it as bugged to Suunto). I personally like the Run a lot, it has dramatically improved since I started testing for Suunto. I typically don’t need maps when following a route and often will check my phone anyway. I don’t have a quarrel with the Run for its lack of S+ ability, as I think that makes for a clear line showing why one might pay for for a Race, etc. However, it also means S+ isn’t a “core experience”. I do think the limited sport modes is silly in comparison. People will just end up tagging some sessions with a slightly less useful tag in most cases. Now if there is a limitation of how many modes a watch can “hold” then have a core set and let people select from a list what secondaries they have — I think maybe Polar does something like this? Finally, while I’m here, I’ll repeat I think it was silly for Suunto to give the Run the ability to do offline music playback but not include it further up the line. People say that’s due to limitations of the older watches, but Race 2 came out after Run and still doesn’t have it. Yes, I realize the Run has its own OS and that’s probably part of the reason, but I think it’s kind of dumb they rolled a new OS for just one thing. Mostly though, I think it makes purchasing decisions sillier than they need to be. If I want both maps and offline music, there’s no Suunto solution for that, even though they have watches that offer either solution. This makes Suunto feel more like Garmin in my mind, giving an impression of being more fragmented with different teams on different watches not paying attention to what the other team is doing.

@SamuelP It’s a really good start, tried the app yesterday. If the developer reads this, really cool that you took on the project, much appreciated! Connecting to the Concept2 was really smooth, as is the continous data synchronization. Little feedback in case you read this: Please store the data [Power, speed, stroke rate] so that they can be viewed in the graph on the mobile app. Change s/500m -> minutes:500m, as a rower the s/500m cannot really be interpreted hehe When exceeding 10000m distance turns to --.

I know that HR measurement at the wrist can be difficult and it is better to use a chest strap. However, even for normal walking (not even Nordic walking) I get horribly wrong measurements, e.g. yesterday the watch showed a maximum of 139 bpm in the afternoon, but an 24h-ECG (which should be 100% accurate) shows a maximum of 106 bpm in the morning (it is hard to search for the same time span). Anyhow, the difference is not acceptable! Yes the watch has correct settings (left arm) and is correctly attached to the wrist. What can I do? I need to track my pulse.

Good day, I have a Suunto Spartan Ultra and have had it for 8 years. From my last Samsung UI update my watch has not synced my daily steps with the Suunto app. I have tried the following but not success: Restart phone and watch. Reinstall Suunto App Force stop Suunto App Unpair watch from phones Bluetooth and reconnect. Gave all items on Suunto App permission. Made sure Suunto APP and phone is not on energy saving mode. If anyone has a solution please assist. Kind regards

I thought the Wahoo cycling cadence sensor would connect to the Suunto app easily being Bluetooth. Should it? It’s also not connecting to the Ambit3 watch.

I haven’t used my D5 since January; I got it out of the cupboard today to charge it as it’s dead, but I can’t remember how to attach the charger. I’ve searched the manual but it just says ‘attach’, it doesn’t explain how. There’s a red thing on the end of the cable which I seem to recall ‘snaps’ onto the watch, but right now it’s not snapping onto anything - it doesn’t stick to the back of the watch like I seem to remember. Have I got this totally wrong? Please can someone explain in simple terms how to attach the charger?! Thanks

Interesting bugs today, probably easy repeatable if someone wants to check. Imported a Suunto guide from intervals.icu and set up a run with a route. Firstly, I previously had media on, and it wasn’t possible to turn off from the menu when running (long press bottom right). Secondly, every time a new section started of the training, the watch would tell me it was off route, before confirming I was back on route about 10s later. Which if you combine with the vibration from getting into the correct zone, vibration to start the interval and so on, is a lot of buzzing on the wrist, especially if you have a short (100m or so) interval. I’ll try and replicate it whenever I do a quality session next, probably earliest the weekend or next week I guess.

@maszop said in New SMART barometric algorithm: @wakarimasen This has nothing to do with measuring altitude itself — that’s never been a problem with Suunto. Look at the top part of the altitude graph, and you’ll see a jagged line with multiple little, sharp peaks (caused by strong wind) that add up, giving absurd ascent and descent totals. It’s a bit better since the last update, but the results are still absurd and essentially useless for any analysis. Understood. Ascent/ descent isn’t so important for me, I guess. I’m just pleased to get to the top, and know how far there is to go on the way there. My Polar watch ‘over-read’ by 10m at the summit, for comparison.

@Tieutieu said in Climb guidance 2.0 issue - not all zoom levels are available at the end of the route (see picture): @sky-runner the only missing thing ihmo is this extra zoom level when there is waypoints . In other cases climb guidance is perfect No, it is not perfect when doing a really long distance with a lot of waypoints, and that is what the above report is about. The zooming doesn’t work correctly when at the end of the route as it may not be possible to zoom in to the desired zoom level. Imagine that you run a 100 km race and let’s say there is an aid station at 5 km before the finish and another aid station at 10 km before the finish. And let’s say there are waypoints for all aid stations. And let’s say you are just past the second from the end aid station, so basically you have 10 km to go and one more waypoint before the finish. Please see the picture at the top of the post for the illustration of what I am trying to explain. At that point it is possible to see the entire profile for the entire 100km, but the elevation profile is so compressed horizontally that it is unusable. Also it is possible to zoom just at the 2nd from the end segment of the profile - from 10km before the finish to 5km before the finish. That is good. But it is impossible to zoom into the segment that shows the last 10 km - from 10km before the finish to the finish. Instead it goes straight into the entire 100km profile. That’s what the above report is about. A similar zoom level is available at the beginning of the route but not at the end. The logic is flawed!

@DrSilverthorn said in Course planner feature suggestion: @sky-runner this could work. Maybe the degree to which you prefer one solution vs another is tied to how obsessively you’re watching the info I think I’d prefer the configurability of a data field option, which would probably involve fewer button presses If there was a dedicated waypoint data screen and I could customize it, I’d definitely use that. But in general I don’t like Suunto’s approach of mixing navigation specific data fields with other data fields on regular data screens. I don’t like having unused data fields when navigation isn’t used. I also don’t like an idea of having a special sport customization just for the case when I use navigation. In my opinion, navigation specific data should only be visible when I use navigation and otherwise be hidden. Garmin solved that by allowing users to customize navigation specific data screens that only show up during navigation. My eyesight isn’t that great anymore so I don’t like having a lot of data fields on each data screen (4 or 5 at max), which means with only 3 data screens I can’t even afford to waste some of the space for navigation specific data fields like distance to next waypoint or ETA. I used that in the past with Suunto 9, but would definitely prefer a cleaner solution. When I used Garmin. I always enabled the “Up Next” feature, which is a dedicated data screen that shows up to 4 upcoming waypoints with their names, symbols, and remaining distances to them.

@Mff73 In my opinion, the negative interpretation often depends on the stress level of the person reading. Firmware updates are something many of us users really look forward to, because besides fixing bugs they also bring improvements that let us enjoy our devices even more. Over the past weeks I’ve submitted several feature suggestions (like the one about customizable alarms and notifications), confirmed bugs reported by other users, and reported a few that I personally found. I also went back and read some older posts from two or three years ago, and many of the suggested features keep appearing again over time. So I’m not sure the next updates will actually resolve or improve that much. Still, as a user I hope they will, and as a fan I’m always curious and a bit impatient to see what the next update will bring.

@Horizontal_2 That initial steep decline is probably related to charging without charging. The current cycle does not show a similar steep discharge at the beginning. Basically, I am currently satisfied with the consumption/battery life of the watch. I have had the watch for 1 year, but it was purchased second-hand. The original owner claimed that he had only used the watch for a few months.

Since nobody answered this, perhaps I can answer some of my questions myself. Overall, Vertical Running profile seems nearly identical to Trail running, except for data screens. When it is synced to Strava it shows in Strava as trail running When running, the laps data screen shows power for mile splits. At the end of each lap the summary shows horizontal speed in miles per hour rather than vertical speed, which is odd and inconsistent. Also, why is it speed rather than pace? VO2max does get estimated the same way as during running This profile is supposed to focus on vertical speed, but I found it to be super unstable and difficult to read. Even at a very gentle uphill, at nearly walking speed the vertical speed exceeds 1000 ft/hour, so 4 digits, and becomes difficult to comprehend because it keeps changing every second +/- 200 ft/hour even when moving steady or just standing in one place, so the last two digits are just random noise.

@2b2bff Then you calibrate your watch on that distance. And count laps to know your progress. Or buy a stryd. That’s a rather advanced footpod and is able to track distance by measuring leg swings quite well.
