Disappointing Sleep tracking after new update
-
One general comment which (I think) would benefit sleep tracking, is the ability to actually edit the start and end times after recording. We all know that this metric can be a little hit and miss, so being able to ‘correct’ the times might help

E.g. you’d expect when before and after a data gap the HR is 40, that it would assume nothing happened in between, rather than make up events.
Definitely this ️ Another night with approx. 2h short, and the (awake and wake up) times match the two brief gaps in the HR tracking. The algo hasn’t been this quick to draw to (incorrect) conclusions before.

Just to correct myself. ButI think i had wrong, and the watch was correct. My HRV is about 40, as other watches is showing same results. No idea why its so low, but what I understands is that is quite low (bad?) for a 32 years old male. I exercise alot (Gym, running and some walking), and Vo2 is between 55-60 most of the time.
However, sleeptracking is still not good enough and never shows over 5h(usually between 3-4 hours), when in reality i have been aslep for much longer (6h and over)
Overall, still like the update very much! Good work Suunto!

@AnonVerticalOwner I also had about two hours off. It seems that the wake up time is constantly correct over past week since update, the problem is with the fall asleep time which is almost always delayed.
I fall asleep almost immediately after I put my head on the pillow…
I haven’t seen any problems with the HR info so it still temains a riddle -

So my SV shows 2h of sleep!
My Fitbit shows 6h.As it is now i see no point to even wear it during sleep…

After upgrading to the new features 2 weeks ago, sleep tracking isn’t working. I tried the following:
Increased Resting Heart Rate
Soft Reset of Watch
Hard Reset of Watch
Inactivated Stand Up Reminder Alert
Any thoughts as I love this watch but need it to track sleep as well! -
@bankstreetwriter
although i am a very happy new owner of the Vertical, i can attest that indeed the sleep tracking (which i tried for fun becuase i really find those features unnecessary and sometimes even disturbing to my lifestyle) is quite random. -
@bankstreetwriter and after soft and hard reset, you have enabled the sleep tracking with the appropriate time in the settings?
Is the step counter working?
-
@Egika yes it is.
-
@bankstreetwriter did any of these changes/actions make any difference for the sleep tracking?
-
Unfortunately not. I have done the following:
Increased Resting Heart Rate
Soft Reset of Watch
Hard Reset of Watch
Inactivated Stand Up Reminder AlertStill it has not tracked any sleep since I did the software update 2 weeks ago. Everything else works just fine…
-
@bankstreetwriter and 24/7 HR is on?
-
Hi Guys, just to add my experience. I have Vertical and it works OK for me after update. I tried to sleep few night with Race because I like report about phases in the morning. But result of race was the same - full of awake gaps even I slept OK. I wear both watches the same tightness and I assume I sleep the same So it might be related to sensor/device, not just a sleep/person.
-
No It is off. It never had to be on before - it was always off and sleep tracker worked before the software update. I turned it off to reserve battery. I will turn it on now and try…

Just fyi to all here. This topic is tracked to improve the current solution.
So my ask is only to keep the scope and add any valuable feedback if possible.

I had three days of less than stelar sleep reporting (sleep starting 3-4 hours after reality).
Tightened the strap last night and it went back to normal. Will try perhaps the velcro strap for rest time to maintain a tighter fit

if only fw were available for the S9PP users as well we could happily give our humble contribution and ideas

Hello guys, I use the new firmware for SV since the day of release, and my first impression about sleep tracking was ‚it‘s as good or worse like before‘… that means that the times of sleeping are just ok, but the level of recovery was as low as before the update. But after about 8 or nine nights of using the watch with the new firmware, the level of recovery/recreation changed and was really much better the last nights… but I didn‘t change my settings in this time. The only thing I changed is that I wear the strap one hole closer because I thought it was too loose, perhaps because it is cold now and the tissue changed a little bit? Can somebody tell me about the parameters which have influence on sleep quality and recreation? Is it only the HR (and the rest HR that I tell the watch), or is it also the new HRV parameter which seems to need a calibration for about 14 days or more (my HRV widget is still not complete, the normal range is still missing)? For now, I thought about that the calibration of the HRV could be responsible for increasing sleep quality?
-
So I turned on 24 HR tracking and finally the sleep worked. I didn’t know that it’s a prerequisite. I don’t think it was on 24 hours before the software update.
-
A few more nights, sleep tracking still perfect.
I didn’t changed my settings since I received my SV in may :- hr tracking H24
- no spo2 measurement
- do not disturb activated from 11pm to 7 am
- sleep target 7hours
- sleep period set from 11pm to 7am
Since update : hrv mesurement activated.
Everything works fine.
One night I woke up to have a (water) drink, it recorded the one minute awaken.
