      @Tieutieu

My SV keeps on measuring spO2 even though the setting is OFF 😭

All my sleeps are tracked 1-2 hours short, usually from the beginning of the sleep, but sometimes from the end as well.

This feature became useless, which is a shame since my sleeps used to be spot on before the update. Looking at the 12h graph it seems like my HR is going down slowly when I fall asleep.

my today sleep was tracked correctly in terms of awake time (i think) : i was long time awaken and watch gives me almost 3h awake duration.
but i had an alarm at 7, and i snooze it once for ten min, and then i stop it at 7h10, and fall asleep for one hour more :), but watch didn’t recognize this one extra hour : out of bed time is 7h10 😞
My settings are DND and sleep period from 21h30 to 8h30 (large range to be sure to track everything (maybe not the right choice ? ).

I got three hours of sleep according to my Vertical. Don’t know why, but the watch did stop recording my sleep in the middle of the night at 4. Again, my other watch shows 6 hours.

So I turned on 24 HR tracking and finally the sleep worked. I didn’t know that it’s a prerequisite. I don’t think it was on 24 hours before the software update.

            Guessing here:
sleep detection uses HR plus watch movement. Not exactly sure what is was löike before the update.

@Egika i believe the vertical only uses hr.

Hello all! I’m a fresh new user of Suunto Vertical and I have an issue regarding “Sleep tracking”. After the latest update 2.30.26 everything regarding “Sleep tracking” was fine and more or less accurate till 4 days ago when suddenly stop tracking. I don’t have any recorded data since then. I used DND while tracking, but the result is same - not working at all. Any advise.
Thank you in advance and have a nice day ahead!

Tightened the strap last night and it went back to normal. Will try perhaps the velcro strap for rest time to maintain a tighter fit

I actually switched to a third party velcro strap two nights ago too! One night was off by miles (1:27h instead of the 5h+, random sleep/waking times), but the other night was possibly spot on, if not a little optimistic (7:45h). Un/surprisingly, not a single gap in the HR data for either night; not sure what to make of that.

So my ask is only to keep the scope and add any valuable feedback if possible.

                    Thanks @Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos
My observation since the update is that the wake up is exactly on time while the fall asleep time is almost always off by more than an hour and on some cases is 3 to 4 hours after I actually fall asleep.
I did have two nights that my sleep was measured correctly, although I have no idea what I did differently?!?
I have 24hr on, strap is snug and my rest heart rate is defined accurately.

@peegee i don’t have the vertical, but one of the suggestions from support with the Race, some people experience that too,is setting his resting HR higher. So my lower HR is around 48/49 I set as 60 my resting HR. I had no issues with sleep tracking, detects perfectly when i wake up and when i fall asleep. Try that and see if it works for you

I talked with Suunto support about the problem. They gave me the tip to lower my resting HR so I did from 60 to 50.
Results from tonight’s sleep was 2 hours according to my Vertical… in reality 6 hours +.
I just dont know what to do. Poor sleep tracking is affecting other data to.
Also my alarm did not work this morning either…

I got the second time in a row no sleep tracking this morning 😞

Fun one for me today, woke up at 6AM to a “you’ve been sitting for 2 hours” stand up reminder…tighter watch band worked for one day but has not worked for the next two

Since the update two weeks ago all my sleeps have been recorded absolutely correct. My resting heart rate is set almost to my lowest heart rate at night (50), i activate dnd every evening manually and oxygen and hrv is activated.

                              Just a positive feedback!

@Mitch9 think you want to be setting resting hr to a higher vale than your actual resting hr.
Seems the sleep tracking looks for your hr to be around that value or lower to decide when you are asleep.

@stromdiddily Is there any way to see the resting heart rate for a longer time period than the last 7 days in the app? It seems in most of the other metrics you can choose between 8 weeks, 8 months, 13 months or even the last 8 years.

Not sure if this will help, but I switched out the stock band with a velcro one. The sleep tracking function still way underestimates my sleep, but at least now it tracks a couple of hours of sleep per night, which allows the watch to make a HRV estimate. This is an increase from the zero hours I was getting after the update. But like I said, the estimates are still way too low.

I’m also one of the people with a small wrist (6.5"), for whom the heart rate measurements when running are extremely inaccurate.

@jannis you can view the average nightly heart rate for the last 8 weeks like shown below. I’m not sure if that is what you are looking for.

                                          @tiago @Iggge

So could Suunto (or their ambassadors) tell us the official way Suunto wants the rest HR to be set? Many here have done how on the forum has been advised and used rest HR “when doing nothing”, like first thing to measure when waking up. Is this the way to go “officially”, is the algorithm planned to work this way?

Or is it like the support also seems to have advised AND how it also says in the SR manual:

                                          https://www.suunto.com/Support/Product-support/suunto_race/suunto_race/widgets/resources/

                                          “TIP:
Use the lowest heart rate reading measured during your sleep as your Rest HR.”

E.g. Oura ring, Firstbeat are using the lowest heart rate when talking about rest hr. Apple I believe seems to show rest HR the other way “when doing nothing”…

So I don’t think there is a right or wrong way to measure this, BUT we would really need to know what Suunto wants us to put there, which way is best to their algorithm?

@SuuntoR when I contacted Suunto support they advise me to set my minimum HR higher than my actually resting heart rate. I always use the minimum when sleeping,2 years with Polar and 5 with Garmin always was that way,so for me resting heart rate is the minimum at sleeping . My minimum is between 47/49 and I set minimum HR at 60. I must say with the race works perfectly, the time I fall asleep and when I wake up, however I already contacted the support about this question,if they use pace and heart rate reserve to calculate vo² max,so 12 bpm I think it makes a difference in their equation to calculate my fitness. I’m waiting for a response to that 😅 but yes,for me set my minimum hr about 10 bpm higher solve the issue with sleep tracking
