SOFTWARE UPDATE 2.33.12 - Q1 2024
-
I have the same sync problems of activities between Suunto Race and Sunto App running on an iPhone after the update as mentioned by @Draculax and @Niclas-Brundell . Haven’t found a solution yet. I tried to re-sync a couple of times with re-start of all devices, etc. still no success.
Anyone else experiencing such connectivity/sync problems?

@Mff73 thank you for pointing me to the correct thread!

@gizmo One of the strangest things with Suunto is that we can’t lock the watch when not exercising. Suunto please, please add this to the next update
-
@Iggge hum…watch automatically locks itself when not exercising, after around a min of inactivity. You need to press a button to reactivate it
(Works for sur on S9pp and SV) -
@Iggge i have made a lot of requests for that function… After ambit peak does exist in any model and it’s so simple…

FYI airplane mode in control panel doesn’t do anything.
Same here (S9PP)
I have to go into the settings, connectivity, to activate the airplane mode for real, and to cut the bluetooth connection to the iPhone. But the airplane switch in the control panel has no effect, the iPhone still synchronises with the watch.

Hi !
I have a weird bug on my 9PP since the update.
In “Gym Timer” for example, the lap button don’t do anything, it just record a lap.
It used to go to the next exercice or something.
Am I the only one ? -
@Tieutieu not the Race, at least. I get in the shower with the watch locked and as soon as the water drops start to hit the touchscreen it goes throug menus, screens, etc.

Hi @Neblazok, FYI we’re discussing this issue in this post, in the context of the 7 Minute Workout S+App! Some code got lost in the last update? If anyone can confirm/replicate the issue, it would be useful, thanks!

@Meneillos for me water drops won’t unlock the Race screen, if raise to wake is set to display only. Haven’t tested below the shower (don’t wear my watch then) but just tried it outdoors while in the rain.

Right. Problems in the shower or water only occur, if raise to wake is set to “full on”.

Since the last update, my pace suddenly spikes when I reach the first km of my run.
Am I the only one ? -
@Raphes67 no you are not alone, I’ve noted that as well and it happens several times along the way

I’m a little bummed that the issues with navigation prompts weren’t addressed with this update. I know it’s been discussed elsewhere (https://forum.suunto.com/topic/9382/navigation-turn-notififactions), but I was really hoping for some progress.
There’s really one simple fix that would dramatically improve the experience: when at the current turn, show a prompt for THAT TURN and not the NEXT TURN.
It should be a relatively easy fix since it currently works the correct way when approaching the end of a route - first it gives the ~100m warning that the end is approaching, and then it prompts when you’ve reached the exact end point. Just apply this logic to turns and waypoints and we’re all set.
… And if I had to beg for one other improvement, I’d like the turn prompts to display longer.

Watch didn’t sync today either. Happens with about 50% of activities since the last update

@duffman19
Great points -
@duffman19 I still hope they make the turn notifications a lot smaller so that parts of the screen remain visible. Same for off-route-warnings. Being able to continuously see the map/breadcrumbs would help a lot, especially if the turn info is difficult to interprete, wrong, or falsely timed …
-
@duffman19 It’s a good idea to bring it up again, even if I don’t think Suunto will deploy it as a firmware update…
I think / hope that one day, taking advantage of the introduction of a new watch Suunto will integrate a real track navigation.
Today it sucks and worse than that, it’s unusable.I imagine that 99% of employees have a Suunto on their wrist and that a large proportion use it for sport, so I don’t understand how this function can be so rubbish compared to other brands.
On a Suunto Race, if you want to follow a new track it’s compulsory in my opinion to display the map screen. On a Garmin, for example, you can run on any screen and follow the directions that appear in the overlay - at the right moment in the vast majority of cases.
In my opinion, this is an obvious area of development for SuuntoAnd I know that some people here use their watches for cycling (Garmin’s Edge for me). I don’t even know how you can tolerate this level of looseness on this function. On a bike, where speed is more important, it’s vital that the turning information arrives at the right time if you don’t want to make U-turns or stop. Suunto will go straight to the wall if it comes out with a bike-computer as bad at navigation functions as these watches.
