2.33.12 Sync issues

Ever since my watch has updated to 2.33.12 (last week), my activities have trouble syncing. It seems normal in the app like everything is going to sync, then the connection is lost and it tries to sync again from the beginning. You can even see the connection logo on the watch turn off/go away while trying to sync The only work around seems to be forgetting the Bluetooth device (in the app, on the iPhone, and on the watch) and then restarting the watch again. Very annoying. Even tried resetting the watch, which is even more annoying since you loose all your settings and customized sport modes.
Sunnto app 2.33.0 (14525) running on iPhone 13 iOS 17.3.1
