Suunto Vertical Solar Recommendations
-
I recently purchased a Suunto Vertical Solar after having had positive experiences with my choice of Suunto in the past. I have only had the watch about a week at this point, however there are a few complaints/recommendations I would make in relation to future updates/upgrades to the Vertical. 1 - First, what happened to choice of the red backlight? I work outdoor at nights and the red backlight to spare your night vision was a definite plus on my last model which I am really missing on the Vertical. 2 - What is the deal with the lack of ability to scale up the fonts for the typeface? I thought this was a both standard and required feature for accessibility, especially in the European market? Even a simple magnification button would go a long way to solving this issue. 3 - Lack of watch faces. There is not much to choose from in the way of watch faces which is a little disappointing. I like to customize the watch to my needs, and I find I can only do that to a certain degree with the current options. This would be something I would highly recommend adding in the future. 4 - I haven’t had the chance to use the GPS yet, but I am hoping that nothing had changed in relation to the ability to choose different map datums and position data formats.

@Medic1559 a little bit of research before the purchase could have saved you from a lot of surprises. -
My guess is that you’re coming from a Suunto Traverse. As far as I know this was/is the only watch with a red backlight. The vertical doesn’t have one.

You can’t increase the font on the watch face. In activity recording you can create a custom sportmode and define less fields. This will result in bigger fonts

There is no store for watch faces. The ones in the watch are the only one

Coordinate format options are still the same
