Battery drain

A fix is being tested, if everything works out should be here in a week or two.
Are there still issues to investigate or is there a corrected FW under tests ?
I still need to do a still to do a soft reset every week (map + navigation) ? -
@isazi but not all with this problem. I don’t have.
-
@Antoine as far as I know, the planned timeframe is still September (and today is only the 17th).

@Robin123 I agree with you that the advertising claim ( Daily use: Smartwatch mode
up to 30 days (60 days with solar)) is not true. With a fully charged battery, I have a battery consumption (without activity and without HR or Oxi Monitor) of approx. 10 - 12 % within 2 days. The advertised runtimes will never be achieved. This advertised battery life was a reason for me to switch from the Suunto 9 Peak to the Vertical Solar.Et ça fait vraiment avancer le schmilblick.
Bien dit Milux

@Kramble

I think I identified a new pattern for the battery drain without actually starting the exercise
- Navigate to quick start menu of a exercise (eg running)
- Configure setting
- Abort (go back)
Did it twice after I had resettled the watch from an exercise and I got like 1% drain per hour on idle
-
When will the hotfix come?
I wear my Vertical only for exercise.
This week, my watch did nog use for 3 days…watch lay on a table and i saw a battery drain of 30%!Hope that a hotfix will solve this problem!

@thanasis How long have you been observing such battery functioning? For how many days?
-
@thanasis question back
Do you know if “Configure setting” refers to some specific settings, or any?
-
Since the large software update earlier this year (which annoying reset lots of my custom settings) I am now also getting dreadful battery drain. Typically 10% per day. Before the update I could go a month between charge (in idle) but now I need to recharge every week. Any ideas please? I read of a hit fix coming soon. Is this happening soon?
-
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos i was just playing around. But both times i definitely did :
- changed the S+
- entered the write HR setting (enabled/disabled)
- went all the way down to the last item

Soft reset solves the problem - hold upper button for 12 seconds

Soft reset solves the problem
This is not a solution. It only delays the inevitable. And it also resets quite a few of the on-watch statistics like resources and the altitude and solar history charts. And it does not always work. I still sometimes see abnormal battery drain after a soft reset. And it’s terribly inconvenient if you use your watch to record several activities throughout the day.
We’ve been a told a fix should be here by the end of September. I’ve still got my fingers crossed, but that leaves us with one more working day (unless Suunto releases updates over the weekend?). I’ve come to take any suggested timelines for releases with a (large) grain of salt.

It solves the problem - of rapid battery drain post work out.
By no means, is it or should it be the permanent solution. I think it’s quite clear given the direct interaction with Suunto folks in this thread and others regarding the behavior, that they are actively working on a fix
Agreed regarding release timelines…mostly directionally correct

@duffman19 should have come this week already, but luckily for us Suunto developers found out some more battery drain issue and are trying to fix them too, so delayed to next week.
-
Thanks, @isazi. I do appreciate your updates and the devs work to solve this.

And @thanasis

@Fenr1r yes, but this happened only today. Hope the developers can also reproduce that, and fix it by next week
