Quick heads-up:
New FW is just under test with fix for battery drain issue.
If all goes well, it can hopefully be released within a few daysAre there good feedbacks from tests ?
-
I just finished installing the update that came out a few hours ago
This should take care of some of the battery issues -

This should take care of some of the battery issuesOf some problems related to battery drain, specifically only those related to navigation : “fixed a case where power consumption remained high after navigation”. Am I wrong, or were there other causes of the problem?
-
@Ars-Vitae I did not suffer from any problems with the battery, I only know from this forum that there were various problems
-
hey guys, now WE have one fix for battery drain, let ALL people who were experiencing issues to come back with feedbacks, instead of speculating wether all cases are fixed or not.
It might be iterative process.
My first feedback : i was 26% of battery before the update, and it was 26% after the update, it seems to work 🥳 -
@Mff73 Good call! I took the liberty to charge my watch while I installed the new FW and plan on doing a ride after work to confirm. I was one of the ones affected by the battery drain (8-10% daily drop) and run navigation during activities.
Currently at 99% and will keep the forum posted on battery usage.
-
@Danny-poleg I only quoted your comment because it highlights the point of this update: only some battery drain issues have been resolved.
-
@Ars-Vitae In the process of debugging a firmware issue, especially related to unexpected battery drain, various factors could be at play. Many users have confirmed that enabling navigation is a significant cause of this issue. It’s possible that this problem could trigger other issues as well. Therefore, it’s crucial to identify the root cause and fix the problem to see if resolving this one will also address the other potential issues.
-
@Mff73 I have every right to speculate because the claims of fixing the problem talk about all the causes of the issue. If the fix will be done step by step, ok. But why write about the postponement of the update date explaining it by working on all the sources of the problem? That said, I hope the watch will return to its original value, and I will be happy to share with you how my watch’s battery will perform after the update.

1st night so far so good… drop of 1% from a full charge after the update last night. Got a long run comming on Sunday and am curious to see how much longer the battery can go with the latest improvements.
EVERY MONTH Suunto is making their products BETTER! Great job!

@Mff73 for me it looks back to normal so far. After the update I reset the watch twice wore it during the day at work and did a trail ride after work with navigation. Didn’t reset and wore to bed like usual. Woke up to 96%.
I’ll keep monitoring as i saw the most significant drops after the battery got to 50% but judging from this one test, the navigation drain has been fixed

Let me make a small correction: the latest update does not improve the battery performance only fixes it. It is difficult to improve something after it is broken. In this case, improvement must be preceded by fixing.
-
for me it is not fixed. i have lost 3% in one night.
i am resetting now, and check tomorrow.
-
My vertical all black from 81% to 80% in 24 hours since the update
No activities yet though.
24h ohr on.
Notifications off.Gonna try a run with navigation tonight.
-
no navigation for me, 1 hour run since update (24 hours ago) and 10% down.
but no full discharge/recharge after update yet, so i will wait for it before next feedback. -
20+ hours after last Navigation use (Location Fix check), the compass widget is still showing a value. Could this be relevant? (Happened on the last FW.) Is there supposed to be a timeout for this feature? Only stops with a soft reset.
-
I have not done a full drain/charge cycle but so far not seeing any improvement in battery life. I do not use navigation regularly so this specific fix probably does not apply.
-
For me, the navigation battery drain seems fixed. Did a hike yesterday with routing and map.
Stopped the activity with 30% left and woke up this morning with 29% without a restart of the watch. -
36Hours since top up to 99% charge, 30minute stretching activity (got my self injured on the last training run before a race this weekend), with OHR 24/7 and we are down to 93%. For now I am still averaging around 3% to 4% per day. Tonight will be a light run just to test the hip injury before the race on Sunday… Lets hope the watch and the body are on par to get me off the startline and somehow to the finish
-
@SvenSchroeter Summing up my experiences (spoiler alert… no issues detected).
5Days have passed. Started with 99% and Today I am down to 74%.
- OHR 24/7
- O2 Sat Enabled
- Notifications ON - Buzzing every now and then
Activities Recorded:
- STRETCHING: OHR ONLY / no GPS : 61minutes
- RUN: HR BELT / GPS=Performance: 215 minutes
- BIKE: OHR / GPS=Performance: 25minutes
I expect around a 3week battery life which is pretty damn good considering what I think is relatively heavy use. Included was a running race of 30km, route was pre loaded, but i was not navigating it with prombts… rather simply following the route. I am not experiencing excessive drain for my use cases.
