Speed stats for wind sports

It would be amazing to have SuuntoPlus sports app for measuring your top speed attempts while on the water, be it for wind surfing, kite surfing or wing foiling etc.

It seems Apple and Garmin users enjoy apps such as Waterspeed, but Suunto feels a bit lacking in this category at the moment.

Even quite a simple app that would show session best or current “lap” best average 2s, 10s, 100m etc speeds would be highly appreciated. Units in knots or km/h.

Of course it is possible to export gpx file to a program like Windsport Tracker after the fact for deeper analysis, but it would great to use the watch on the water to check how you are performing on the attempts.

Closest to even remotely useful app I found on the store was “Last km/mile”, that gives avg pace… One option would be to have app called “Last km top speed” or something similar, if the usual averaged best speeds over intervals is too complicated.

I personally do wing foiling and just got Suunto Vertical watch

it is a real shame this doesnt seem to be a thing with suunto going back years in forum entries.
my last watch died and i need to get a new one. Garmin has options (but i can’t afford a nice one), Coros has gps speedsurfing support (but the only 100m water resist is huge). Suunto race looks perfect apart from … this or rather lack of this! i want for wingfoiling and windsurfing speeds. I just want to know my top speed and ideally my top speed maintained for 2 or 5 seconds (i.e. not counted if i crash into the water at stupid speed throwing calculations).

ive seen some posts saying there is a kite app, that shows on the watch as kmph but on the app as knots -if it works that would be better than nothing i suppose. any workarounds?

@danielpugh You can add max speed as a custom data field.
As workaround, you can also add Max Lap Speed as a data field. Then you can “reset” your speed by pressing the lower right button for a new lap.

Until we get a Suunto+ app with real-time calculations, the best thing is to analyze afterwards with software.
