        I don’t understand why Suunto can’t fix this. So many years have passed, so many new models, and the problem of the crappy cable is still the same. Are the testers of these new watches such blind fanboys that they don’t see this idiotic problem? There have been problems with these cables for years.

        After all, manufacturing a cable and a connector is not rocket science nowadays.

          @Rod-K 100% this.
          Charging my Vertical takes ages (over 10 hours) because it stops charging at minimum movement. I try to leave them at the desk and don’t even touch the desk.
          Such an incredible failed design.

          I can’t imagine re-charging the watch in an aid station during a long ultra event, as I’ve done with my S9B. I’m aware the the battery of my Vertical is more than enough but, nevertheless, there are races that might take more than 100hours non stop to complete (e.g. Tor des Geants has a 150hours cutoff).

            if i do the watch flat on the charger have problem too so i put the charger a bit higher over a empty box then it works - maybe the watch strap is to strong curved and lifts a bit the watch

              I find that if I put my watch (Vertical SS Solar) face down, with the charger on top of it, then charging works pretty flawlessly.

              If I try with the watch on top of the charger, then it stops charging frustratingly regularly.

              I’m not sure if that’ll work for other people, but it might be worth a try.

                @GavinH I’ll try that! Never crossed my mind to try charging upside down 😜

                  I’ve been struggling with the same issue. The strange thing is that charging works fine with one specific power outlet in my work office. When I use the same charger, cable combination at home or any other place, I get the disruptive charging behaviour. Changing chargers doesn’t help either.

                  Previously used: Cyclosport HAC4, Polar S710, Ambit 2S, Ambit 3S, SSU, S5P, S9P Ti. Currently using: Race Ti.

                    I had struggled with the disconnecting charger for 6 months until I bought a new one from aliexpress 🙂
                    It looks like the magnets were not strong enough on the original one.

                      Strong magnet could be a problem for internal component, and it’s the main reason why the original charger use weak ones compared with old chargers

                        @sartoric This makes sense.
                        Let’s see how long my watch will survive…
                        If it’s too sensitive to magnetic fields, I wouldn’t recommend it.

                          @sartoric Maybe it’s time to create a new way to connect the cable to the watch (it’s 2025 after all!), instead of continuing with this current problematic crap.

                          In the world beyond Suunto a charging cable is not rocket science.

                            I have never had issues charging my Vertical. I lower the watch towards the charger. Let the charger snap to the watch and then set it down and forget it. Honestly confused why this is such an issue for some.

                              @larrybbaker Try to charge in the tent, in a mountain hut or somewhere in the field during activities.

                              Well, unless Suunto watches are some kind of Samsung/Apple smartwatch for admiring the color screen, and you can charge it on the table while watching TV.

                                I’m having problems with charging my SV since the last update, never had any issues before that. Currently whenever I plug it in it either:

                                • Does absolutely nothing at all
                                • Shows the battery percentage as if it’s charging, but then nothing happens and it doesn’t charge
                                • Beeps like crazy and goes absolutely mental

                                I can usually get it to charge as normal after a few ‘Power Off’ and a handful of soft resets. I’ve never seen this charging issue mentioned here which seems odd, anyhow I’m realy hoping that this will be rectified sooner rather than later. FWIW I usually charge at the start of the month and then again mid month
