Auto-detect Activity
-
I wish my watch would detect I had started an Activity and ask me to select and confirm (based on hr change maybe in conjunction with gps or other sensor)
The number of times I have missed out on registering healthy exercises, because I hadn’t pre-empted them!
My old fitbit used to do it, and my wife’s iWatch, so no excuse for suunto not to.
“I detect you may be doing an exercise…”, [watch can recommend Activity (maybe based on last one), allow user to change it to another if desired, and start] -
@Jamdog2477 such feature would require the watch to be always in an elevated power state and would significantly reduce battery life. It’s rather a feature for an everyday smart watch, which has some limited sports use as well.

@halajos good point, however, I would like the capability, and be able to be able to make my own decision if it is worth the hit.
I have one watch and wear it 24/7, so it is my everyday watch…
My thoughts on “not developing capability” cos it drains power… well you can say that about everything the watch does. so where to draw the line? who chooses if its worth it … ultimately that would be the user. Get it out there, in the field, then optimise the power drain, by fine tuning the sensitivity/frequency of the sensors vs accuracy/consistency of the capability. -
According to battery life, this could be a feature that could be turned on/off by the user.
Gyroskope + HR is always on on most watches, only GPS is off by default. So it shouldn’t be that demanding e.g. when HR goes up and Steps / Minute increase.
Garmin has a feature called “Move IQ” doing something similar but haven’t tried yet.
Therefore I would up vote for a configurable feature like that. -
