@danudyk thank for post and report from suunto suport. I obtain similira answers. As I read those answers, convinced that are generated from AI. Way of expression, phrasses proof to me that is correct. So, not very helpfull. We can ask our selves why we are need this. Bought brand new watches ⌚️, and they are not working??? Their proposal please send to repair center, but it will last. Suunto please do something serious to customer satisfaction. @vavrima thank you also for post, with your opinion we narrowed possible issue and that is suunto produced in China. I confirm with photo that mine is also made in China. So we have two watches with made in China. @danudyk please repost your version of suunto race is it made in Finland or China? @isazi it is almost one month since I bought watch and reported to suunto, still have no update.

@ChrisA thank you for sharing info. But you mentioned that you add wifi network before update, and after hard reset of watch, you previous wifi stayed persistant, remain.

@isazi thank you for note. I am aware of that. But for example, suunto peak 9 owner reported many dysfunctionality also with firmware 2.39.20. So, suunto support decide to resolve issue immediately on way to take working firmware 2.37.48 renamed to 2.39.34 as way to force watches model 9 peak to download/downgrade firmware to provide customer satisfaction and have working watches. While developer working on relase 2.39.20 to rework reported issues. Why they did not do same workaround for suunto race S owner??? Maybe suunto races s owner are spent less money for their entry level watch or what? Please help me to understand. Thank you

@disadisa because initially the issue of the OHR getting stuck was identified as more critical for the S9PP. Only later Race, Race S, and now even Vertical started reporting it. As for wifi, S9PP does not have it, so that problem was not there.

So, summary for now in this section, we have 3 suunto race s made in china owner experience a issue with wifi @danudyk and @vavrima did you experience issue with heart rate monitor stop suddenly? I experience twice during less then month day of usage of suunto race S. It started working normally after soft reset, I assume that quality control in production is less in chine than in Finland. Maybe they are using lesser quality hardware component in China manufactured watch then made in Finland??? For me there is no other explanation why SW version 2.39.20 working on made in Finland and not working on made in China watches.

@disadisa I would like to point out that iPhones are manufactured in China. The quality of control depends on the specifications provided by Suunto. Therefore, there is no difference in terms of hardware assembly. Even when Finland produces high-quality products, the components often come from China, as is the case with Garmin and many others. When it comes to quality control, China has a poor reputation due to ignorance of current practices in Chinese companies and the fact that they produce both low-quality goods and high-quality ones. As Westerners, we tend to remember only the low-quality products.

@iterumtenta I agree about low and high end product from china. But suunto as a brand fail in next following:

                          1. Improve quality control after final production by random testing several watches periodically
                          2. Improve QA tester service, after deploy an update to test it before release into public usage.

@disadisa The assumption that a factory in Finland means better quality is just another fairy tale.

@disadisa I understand your frustration, and as long as we avoid stereotypical views of China, I’m open to any argument. That said, I genuinely love the Vertical. I rely on an HR belt, train with RPE and ZoneSense, and have disabled sleep tracking and optical HR, so my perspective might not align with everyone’s. What I appreciate most is how Suunto allows me to escape over-quantification—unlike Garmin, which can feel overwhelming. For my needs, Suunto is perfect, and the Vertical is an excellent tool. It has some bugs, like any tech, but nothing that really bothers me.

I also got wifi problems with a brand New Suunto Race S. Downloading maps was not possible after firmware update. I returned the watch the same day. Very disappointed, because it looked very nice. Now back to Ambit 2. 😞

This software problem must lead to a lot of returns for Suunto… hope they will solve it eventually.

@disadisa Nearly 8 out of 10 Race S models on the market are made in China. Not sure what point you’re trying to make.

@iterumtenta this is community where we are trying to help each other. Fact is that we have 3 people with brand new watches with dysfunctionalities. And that we can’t ignore that fact and take as occasionally or by accident. Only one member of this community who is owner of watch made in Finland confirm to us that his watch is working. Time is priceless for everyone of us, only time we can’t revert back. So, why I need to spending my time on product they are defective, contacting support AI generated answers, returnig to shop or repair centre??? At least I am expecting if I paid 350 euros for watch to work as advertised. @ChrisA you also spent your time to resolve issue, but by your were lucky made wifi connection before upgrade, and probably it is saved on cache memory or somehow and it is not affected by sw version 2.39.20, you confirm that. For me goal is to prove that is problem with firmware and to put pressure on suunto support and developer to release new update. I will repeat again, I am coming from IT field, cooperate with developers, testers etc. It is shame that suunto as brand allowed this huge mistake before fully testing watch. @iterumtenta I don’t now what is your point to justify Suunto support and ignore facts?

@disadisa If you read posts in the forum, it is said the Suunto has acknowledged the issue with the wifi and with the OHR and they intend to release a fix ASAP. In some place it is also written down that they already have tested 12 firmwares iterations to try to solve the issues.

Let them work, I do not believe that they have any intention of not working on it. Maybe you come from IT developing new products but I work in service department where we solve the issues and bugs not found in the product development and when the machine is in production, and some times it is very, very, very difficult to find the root cause or make a solution that doesn’t break another thing.

You can be pissed off, I would too but in all my years here with the SUU, S9B and the SV I know they listen to us and try to solve things.

@disadisa I understand your frustration. However, claiming it is defective solely because it is made in China is incorrect and a waste of your/our time. Good luck with your investigation, and I hope those issues get resolved.
