Haha I’m sure there are many days to be celebrated. Maybe a customizable watch face where the user can change the background using the Suunto app would be more suitable instead of a watch face for every celebration. Some of the other smart/sport watch brands allow for this. That way devs can focus on the quality and usability of watch faces suites to different fitness scenarios rather than focusing on making one suited for a celebratory day.

@Tomas-Fejfar sorry, more complications available on the watchface, for more complications kind a firmware update is always necessary

I’d like an option to customize the default Vertical watch face. When you press a button, the seconds appear. It would be nice if that could be dynamically changed. If you press the middle button, the seconds appear. When it gets back to normal, it could be something else (not blank/empty like it is now). For example, it could show you your pulse or the solar activity or the altitude. Would be quite nice and it definitely won’t ruin the watch face!

@smirkz yes, I was thinking about multiple watchfaces as another way.
Now we have got one more watchface that has 5 complications and it is better a bit

@MikeKhachmakhov Well, being a former Garmin user, the idea of having these abominations again and on a Suunto as well is kind of… revolting in all honesty. People would have a harder time navigating the watch face than navigating the whole watch.

@MikeKhachmakhov I have a serious problem with this. The watch faces that people chose was the number one complaint when it came to average battery life. The fact that Suunto is not overloading their watch faces with data is what actually differentiates them (at least in my eyes) from the wild west that is the Connect IQ store, for example. Also, there needs to be THAT brand which wants to keep the experience bug free and as optimized as possible, and that is Suunto.

You are talking about craziness on the opposite side of the spectrum. I mean every product can be bloated, but what you saying is opposing the concept of watchfaces.People are not same, so you need some flexibility.
Battery wise there is no significant difference actually so I wouldn’t use it as argument, not at least for the most of the complications and again if you are sane.

Now, with the new watchface(5 complications) I can get all data I need without pressing any button. That is the definition of good UI/UX.
If you need only time there is no sense to buy smartwatch that costs 1000$.
Now I know if I should expect rain without any extra action and that is cool

Oh I think a lot of people would disagree with this part :). A lot if people buy sportswatch (not a smartwatch) to use it for their favorite sport/training. While at idle, time-only screen is perfectly fine.

I really like my SV, and i like the possibility of adapting the screen within the Personal Sport Modes with the data i want to see during doing the sports… in dailiy living the Watch screen is Not so critical I think 👍😃

@aiv4r 😂 And even more people wear watches as a fidget/style.
Watches are just tools at the end of the day. The only question is if they are customizable or not. If not you are not selling except couple of sportsman minimalists.
It is just a software and it should be customizable to fit everyone, not only the “far left” or “far right”.

You will always be able to choose a face that has only clock on them. That is guaranteed.

@MikeKhachmakhov If every brand tried to please all consumers by producing products that are “down the middle” (neither far left nor right), then wouldn’t we get a bunch of watches that all look and function the same? Most Suunto fans purchase their products because of the design aesthetic, minimalist qualities, and general reliability for the functions they do perform.

If you prefer a highly customizable sports watch, there are plenty of options out there for you. I think most of us (a biased group, no doubt) would be pretty disappointed if Suunto went the route you’re suggesting.

                                          it’s not a zero-sum game.

of course, there are overloaded garmin watchfaces (that some people like), but crucially, there are also minimalist watchfaces, and everything in between. the argument is for the choice. or, even better - suunto opening up watchfaces to third party developers so they can fill any gaps left by the stock watchfaces (with strict quality control)

curiously, the data-heavy watchfaces are typically the most downloaded on the garmin connect store, so the most popular watchface type on the most popular sports watch would seem to be something suunto should emulate if they want to be successful, whilst of course still catering for the minimalists.
