Vertical: Offline Music/MP3s coming in a future update?
-
I’m looking to finally upgrade my Suunto 7 only to find out that the Vertical, which has 32gb of storage, doesn’t only not have support for Spotify offline playlists, but you also can’t upload MP3 files to it?
Please Suunto, tell us that uploading MP3s or Offline Spotify(better option) is on the roadmap and will be in a future update?!
Strava reports that Running is the most used/tracked activity. There’s a high percentage of people buying the watch for running, and most people who run by themselves listen to music. It’s rare to see lone runners not listening to music. So all these people need to carry a big 250g phone with them and buy a strap/belt? Even swimmers now listen to music, how can they take their phone with them?
My Samsung S24 Ultra would be awful to run with so i’d have to get like an ipod nano or also run with my old abandoned suunto 7? lol I understand it’s a different OS but a 150USD Suunto 7 can have MP3s, offline spotify, offline maps, bluetooth headphone connection (no phone needed).
This is a huge miss for a fitness watch. How rare is it that you see a runner not with headphones in?
Is there a Vertical Gen 2 coming out anytime soon? While battery life, multisport, and lack of climb pro is killing me: this is just too big of a miss for me.

Imagine that people carry backpacks, skis, ice axes, equipment used in many sports disciplines, and ride bikes, so there is no point in being dramatic with the phone

I think Suunto Vertical is more than a fitness watch. And offline music is not a top priority for many.
The next watches may have this option like Suunto Run - this one is more of a fitness watch. -

I personally find this trend horrible. Especially when I see people running with huge on-ear headphones. First it’s not very safe, second I would rather prefer to hear my breathing. Open-ear is a different story, but 99% people I see run with on-ear (I bet they also have noise cancelation on because why not).

I have no interest in this feature. Granted many seem to. This is the reason I have stayed with Suunto - simple, functional. One more thing to clutter the UI and to complicate updates etc.
