Software Update 2.44.46 (2025 Q3)
-
@olson917 Thanks, I just finally understood the idea. I thought that it could be maybe the same type = same sport. The Suunto has Bike Sensor that meters cadence and speed and I’v never been able to synchronize both parameters, even though they come from the same device.
-
@Tieutieu thank you for sharing your perspective.
To be honest, this feels more like a bug or even a downgrade. I usually program my intervals with intervals.icu, and I used to see my exercises (e.g., burpees). Now I can’t see them anymore. After all these years with Suunto, this is the first time I feel truly disappointed with a Suunto app and watch update.
Suunto app issues:
The map has been removed from the profile view.
The map view in Route details is now very small and impractical. I wonder if it was actually tested internally before release.
Editing waypoints or planning routes is clunky. You need to tap and hold multiple times before anything happens.Q3 release issues:
Climb guidance v2: still doesn’t work properly for me…
Paired devices: when cycling, I pair both my watch and bike computer to my power meter. After this release, my activity is missing power metrics, even though pairing shows as successful…
Interval workouts with third-party apps: not working as they should anymore…
Music control: never works…This is the first time I’m more eager for a bug fix release than for an actual feature release.
I know some people from Suunto are here, and I don’t mean to say the work isn’t good. I just want to share my frustration about certain features not working as they should. -
@Wilson75 understand your frustration.
I’m less concerned by some issues you have (I don’t use icu so for me new bip and rep counter is a huge uprade; only use music control with my Suunto Wing => works well). I sometimes use my HR belt + DI2 app and have no issue. No particular problems with route or waypoints. For me the 2 mains issues since update :
- VO2max bug on running activities => all activities are categorized has V02max. It false suunto coach, analyses…
- Climb guidance on routes with waypoints => no possibility to zoom in into current segment and so no %of climb displayed anymore in this case. huge regression/miss.

Could you elaborate? I’m guessing what the problem is, but I don’t quite understand what you mean. I have a feeling that something is wrong with the VO2Max algorithm since the last few updates, that’s why I’m curious. Trying to understand the problem.
-
@Ars-Vitae it’s simple, and guess it’s a bug. I’m on IOS SA and don’t know if it’s related to: all my runnings (only runnings, road or trail) are auto tagged has VO2max effort, whatever intensity of the session is. I’ve made most of my session in Z1 or Z2, they’re tagged has Vo2max.
All good for other sports… same with both my SV OR SRs
In my case my settings of HR zones (which I set slightly different than factory settings) for all sports had been reseted, running specific hr zones had been pinned on ((had to unpin it). Even after that and soft reset all my runnings are still Vo2max. Same if use my SV or my SRs.
All my friends have the same issue. -
All your zones in the watch (hr, pace, power) are set correctly?
After this the algorithm worked fine again in my case.
-
@Mitch9 Yep.
Like I have always set : I use “HR zones for all sports”, and I don’t use “specific intensity zones (power/pace) for running”.
My HR zones are properly set, same values than before update. -
@Tieutieu I also do not used advanced zones, but regardless of that i had to set pace zones in adddition to HR zones to get rid of that problem ( tagging everything at Vo2max). Try that.

Yes, that’s what I wrote before.

Hi All! New Suunto Race S owner here!
For the most part I’m really enjoying training with the race s, but have noticed some annoying bugs with the latest software update, and figured I’d share them here (sorry if duplicate)- factory reset my watch when updating the software meant I had to set up everything from scratch
- sport mode settings all erased so I had to set up again
- logbook on watch erased with update
- HR zones reset
- no “off route” notification when using navigation meant I ran 300m the wrong way before realizing I was off course
- turn by turn notifications are hit and miss. One turn it works really well, next turn there’s no notification at all
- data presented on the watch (ie TSS, CTL, recovery) do not match what’s shown in the app. Yesterday recover in the app showered 70% and on the watch 1%
I hope my feedback is helpful for the team and I’m looking forward to the next update to iron out these bugsThanks!
-
@Tieutieu Okay, I understand, an attribution bug, so it has nothing to do with VO2max itself. Thanks for clarifying.
-
@Tieutieu it is definitely not ok. What is the point of putting name of the interval, but not being able to see it?
I had exactly same issue I described earlier here as well
-
@Ars-Vitae agree about “Send Off”. Even when it is not activated, still you get vibrations.
But regarding style detection. On my experience now suunto detects swimming styles much better than before. Still there are mistakes, but comparing with the past when watch basically couldn’t detect almost anything - now is much better.
-
@Александр-Даниленко A year and a half ago, my SV recognized styles quite well and made minimal mistakes, rarely confusing freestyle with backstroke. Suunto has rather fixed the bugs it caused itself with subsequent updates. In my opinion, this is not an improvement but a fix.
-
@Ars-Vitae as far as I was checking style detection in Suunto (using from autumn 2023) style detection was always terrible. Completely.
After last update I was surprised in this aspect. At least it works now for me better than before, but still there is room for improvement.
For example, here I did 800m Medley swimming (so it was 200m by eash stroke). Only one mistake:
It is Suunto Race S

This is how it was designed - as soon as there is at least one waypoints, climb guidance switches to the new mode where the overall profile is broken into segments by waypoints.
I agree that there should still be a way to zoom into individual climbs or descents. That should work OK if the two climb guidance modes are visually distinct enough so that users aren’t confused.
-
@Александр-Даниленко Lucky you. I counted at least 9 mistakes on 1,500 meters (I didn’t count all the complicated drills but it still counted several lengths with mistakes).
-
@Stavrogin yes it randomly connects, devices are now limited so you have to select each time. Before I had 4 devices paired to the watch and whe I chose the activity it connected to what I paired for that activity I did not have to select each yime or remove a device to connect another. Also there is no way to turn off the auto calibrate function for Stryd as before. Maybe it does not auto calibrate now?
