Suunto did not connect to HR belt
-
Hi,
Last weekend I used my Suunto Race in a triathlon race, 1st time with that kind of activity. Unfortunately, the watch couldn’t connect to my HR belt for the whole race duration (~7 hrs).
That’s a shame because built-in OHR does not handle well with my hairy forearmThat’s surprising because I do not experience connection issues with this belt. It just works.
What is more surprising, my bike computer (Wahoo Bolt v2) managed to connect to the HR belt during a bike part of the race.
I also tested before the race if the HR belt can successfully be connected to both Suunto Race (BLE) and Wahoo (ANT+). And it worked without issues.Any ideas what could have happened there?

@Marro have the samee sometimes with the new Race 2. Suddenly the belt Connection fails…

@Marro What I realized is that the first time you use a new sport mode that you haven’t used before, whether it is one of pre-built sport modes or a custom one, you have to manually connect to a sensor. That can be done in the beginning of an activity at the start screen, by scrolling down to Exercise Options and then to Sensor Data.
Once you’ve connected once, the last used sensor is stored in the sport mode and next time it connects automatically.
I think this is a poor implementation on the Suunto side because this is not discoverable, not how Suunto watches worked before, and not how other brands work. This should be addressed.
