      @Egika said in Software Update 2.48.16 (2025 November Rain release):

      Battery drain can generally be caused by certain systems not properly switching off after use.
      One is external BT sensors.
      Another one could be the GPS chip (and possibly navigation calculation) staying alive after cancelling an activity, etc.
      I know that the devs are aware that there are still issues in certain cases and that they will of course be fixed.

      In business there is a saying that “time kills deals”. I think that also waiting months for a fix that is somehow pushing people towards alternative offerings… which is like losing business.

      I assume there is something being baked (like a new firmware) but having a standing issue for soooo long without any official statement/acknowledgment etc (it exists for several months now) is disappointing .

      I do see people that were supporting this forum (somehow related to Suunto) not being as active/responsive or enthusiastic in posting anymore … I do understand (or assume) there are reasons behind that but the current situation is sub-optimal .

          I think that the two top issues are:

          1. Battery drain due to BT devices (I personally don’t suffer from this, but just reading forums)
          2. HRM totally insane in cold conditions (This renders most of the metrics totally irrelevant).

          For me, #2 is more important because on the Vertical 2 the HRM is generally very accurate. It’s just that losing sync is the reason most users eventually hit #1 (HRM belt with BT).

            Furthermore, there’s the issue with the heart rate monitor strap, which inexplicably loses connection and won’t reconnect. This has been happening since the last update. This is unacceptable! I’ve ordered two new straps, but the same problem persists. It’s been an issue since the last update, and not just with the Vertical 2, but also with the Race 2. Additionally, the ability to save custom sport modes in the app has been missing for years, preventing the need to reconfigure everything after a crash, a new watch purchase, or a reset.

              Thanks for sharing this… It has been driving me crazy!
              I have always “fixed” the issue unplugging and plugging back the sensor onto the strap, blaming myself for the incorrect connection as I usually run in the morning and dress myself half-asleep.

              …and second this as well! I experienced the pain when I reset my wife’s Race S that is exhibiting very poor battery performance, less than 4 days after less than 18 months. We’ll see what the next update brings us!

                @thanasis Suunto is going to release their next update when they release the Race 3/Vertical 3, with new bugs of course.

                  Yep 100% mate also even if they bring out a new update I’ve lost faith in suunto because the notes from the last update said “battery drain fixed” however it was not fixed was a straight up lie. So when they one day bring out another update that says “battery drained fixed” i will be sceptical to say the least.

                  certainly if this issue is not fixed soon mine and all my kids future watches will not be suunto. Which is a shame as i have always used suunto.

                      @gone-troppo Everyone to Amazfit! No, seriously, I’m eyeing a Coros Dura + watch combo… 🙄
                      We’ll see if the long-awaited update fixes the well-documented current problems.

                        @jjpaz I do not know if you already own the Dura but if I were you I would lower my expectations, I own one and it works correctly but doesn’t “wooow!!!” me.
                        Regarding battery life I agree that is a bit frustrating but my guess is that with last update they solve one source of battery drain but they miss the one related to the sensors connections.

                          @jjpaz Just to add from real experience — battery on the T-Rex 3 Pro drains surprisingly fast too when you’re doing real workouts, GPS running, etc. 😅

                          Not trying to start a brand war or say one is universally “better,” but honestly…
                          If you’ve used Suunto before and then go try something like Amazfit or other rugged watches, there’s a good chance you’ll end up back on Suunto eventually.

                          Why? Stuff like:

                          Running pace calculations feel more consistent and reliable on Suunto

                          VO2 max & performance stats are way more detailed (actually useful, not just numbers)

                          Battery life feels good in real use — unlike some watches (yes, T-Rex 3 Pro included) where it seems to drop faster than expected during workouts

                          Again, not flaming anyone — just comparing real-world experience.

                            @Kraisun-Tunta 😁

                            I was just joking about Amazfit, now that they’re “signing” runners and investing in marketing. It was a lame joke.

                            Much has already been said, all vendors and devices have pros and cons, Suunto, Amazfit, Coros, Garmin. If you search on forums, all of them show advantages and disadvantages. In the end, we can choose the device wich suits better for us and for our needs.
                            In my case, my SVTS and SRS are sufficient for me even with the excessive battery consumption 😀

                            I’ve survived Black Friday deals without buying a Coros or a Garmin so I look forward to continuing to enjoy my Suunto watches with fresh and bug_free/bug_fixed software updates.

                              @jjpaz Honestly, knowing Suunto…
                              waiting for bug fixes is probably faster than waiting for a new watch face
