My Vertical 2 Wishlist for Next Update in 2026

I love the watch and Suunto just posting my wishlist hoping Suunto Devs see it
No particular order.-
Tides widget - high and low tide times and height geographically with LW and HW values. i live on the coast and some beaches are hidden with high tide and itâs good to know for water activities for safety.
-
More Tiles - I had the Suunto 7 and it could hold 5-6 tiles. These tiles were great for seeing things full screen quickly if you wanted.
-
Media Controls Volume - on the Suunto 7 the volume was mapped to the up and down buttons by default.
- Currently, changing the volume takes 3 steps once in media app (i have it mapped as a long press on bottom button): scroll down to volume-> pressing volume -> then press up or down button to change volume.
- On the Suunto 7 - it was on middle button by default only when music is playing on your connected phone -> up and down buttons are volume rockers by default.
- Devs if youâre looking at this and have a Suunto 7 - play around with the media app and youâll know what i mean.
I like many people listen to music while weight lifting, indoor cardio, lone running/downhill skiing. Changing volume, and songs in an instant is crucial for ease and safety (less time looking at the watch vs concentrating on activity).
-
Custom Sport Mode Customization via phone
a) let us search with keyboard with the list autopopulating as you type more letters
b) let us have more than 1 graph tiles during the activity
c) let us change the order of activity tiles -
Offline Spotify (i have 20gb left after downloading all my apps + offline maps)
-
Popular Trails Nearby Suunto Phone App - For a mountain city of 3 million people. 3 Ski resorts and 1000kms of trails at my doorstep in Vancouver. There are only 53 popular routes of all sports, thereâs no ski touring, mountaineering options. There are a lot of heatmaps which could be transferred into trails somehow?
Side note: Heat maps are great tbh and I hope suunto keeps making it better. With Fatmapsâ departure, ski tour routes are harder to find. Heatmaps really help on this front. I was going to subscribe to Strava for this feature alone -
Flashlight Mapped to a button long hold should turn on and off the flashlight with the same long hold.
-
Multi-Day expedition (ski touring / hike / mountaineering) - Allow us to pause, and minimize activity once we get to camp. Resume activity from log book when restarting the hike the next day. This watch is meant from expeditions, this is a big feature thatâs missing.
-
Voice Guidance via phone speaker
a) Turn-by-Turn Navigation Voice Guidance via phone. âIn 50 meters, turn leftâ. This would be cool if you can do this in the pre-activity menu when selecting SuuntoPlus apps. Currently, you have to run the trail independently on your phone for this.
b) Pace/Power Coaching Voice Alerts. Currently, this can only be done with Runna -
Suunto Activity
a) In the pre-activity menu, give us an option to have the activity Screen/ Display Always On. Suunto 7 had this by default and it was much better. Iâm not worried about this watch dying. I donât want to do the wrist movement during the activity
b) More tagging in maps like Peak names and lake names.

I would like to vote for Tides widget too. I get to nerby sea maybe once in a year or less but still i would like to have tides on my wrist and not need to lookup in phone.
And improvement of sports mode customization would be welcomed. Now it is slow because of constant connecting to phone and searching for fields just by scrolling is really bad. I would also like to change order of screens in sport mode without need to delete and recreate in correct order. And be able to create copy of existing sport mode and than change type would be awesome. For example i created cycling and when i want create MTB with exact same fields it would be nice to be able just copy first custom mode and just change type and maybe few fields if needed. Not recreate 95% of same over and over.
-
And one more thing
ability use two graph screen in sport mode. In Ambit 2 times i used to have hearthrate and alitude graph together if my memories are correct. I understand that maybe Suunto 5 dinât have power to do that but Vertical 2 Race 2 are flagship models so i hope thay can handle it. -
@Tomas5 Iâd like tides too and please forgive me if you already know this. To be useful it needs to be a lot more complicated than just low and high water times. It needs to include these of course but also which reference port (the times are different geographically) and the tide heights at that port at HW and LW.
There is a significant difference in height of water between Spring and Neap tides (and in between), more than enough to make a beach flooded or passable or a channel navigable or dry. -
@Tomas5 I like this one, 2 graphs from custom sport modes would be cool. Altitude tracing with trail + heart rate. Adding this to my wishlist

@MarkG edited OP to reflect this! Great input.

Thanks eurohiker. Iâm a sea kayaker as well as other things. I suppose it just needs to be a similar presentation to weather.eg: HW Mallaig 1530hrs 4.6m, LW 2145hrs 1.6m.
A graph would be useful and make calculations faster but the basic info in conjunction with charts (or local knowledge) would be sufficient. -
@eurohiker The tides widget would be a great addition. I would also love to see your suggestion about multi-day activities implemented, maybe the ability to keep the activity running in the background and switch to the main watchface.
-
Not really many things I would like to add, but a couple of things that would help for me are:
Ability to set the days for the alarm clock.
The weather forecast for a few days not hours and wind speed in KPHBoth these relatively minor things make me reach for the phone when I would rather use the phone.
And also the ability to upload a pass - I am not sure if you can already do this as I saw chat about a park run pass. Iâd like to be able to upload my local gym pass (barcode) so I do not need to carry my phone when I go for a workout or class,

Garmin added this to their watches. And it couldnât be turned off. Super irritating if you listen yo music.
That was the final push for me to sell a one year old forerunner 965 and buy a suunto race s.And also kinda irritating when you do a race or a trail and some people have voice alerts that report every 1k out loud.
(Just reacting to say there are different opinions)

And Iâm general I cannot comprehend why people may want their watch to speak notifications to them when they can simply look at it at any moment.

I would like to able to access the led torch during an activity with just one button push, not relying on menus. Sometimes when I run in the dark there are short unlit sections where this would be a useful feature instead of having to rely on carrying a headtorch as well.
-
I really would like to use the ânavigate now on watchâ-function multiple times during an activity.
Most underrated function on Suunto, I think.
Is there even another brand that do that?
-
@Horizontal_2 it would be great if its possible to make the routes offline on the App . Actially you need Internet to create a Route like navigation on watch.

This would be great, but what button would you use? All buttons are already used - both short and long presses are already mapped to other functions. Having only 3 buttons is the limiting factor.
-
@sky-runner Suunto could make a âflashlightâ page. You should be able to add this page as a screen (or page, not sure how itâs called) during any activity. During the activity swipe to this screen and there would be a button to turn the flashlight on or off. Even some gesture to brightness could be there. Tap to turn on and off. Swipe up or down for brightness.
-
Iâm not sure, Iâd hoped that perhaps a long button push would be possible to implement through the firmware to make more use of the 3 buttons. Or a long touch on the watchface?

Cannot rely on touch. That is no go for an outdoor watch. That would be useless in a rain or even when wearing a long sleeve shirt when the sleeve covers the watch. When I wear a long sleeve shirt I pretty much cannot leave my watch on the map screen because my shirt sleeve starts panning the map all the time.
The best solution I can think of is double tap on the lap button. Implementation of the double tap can be a bit tricky because the first tap would have to be ignored and not trigger a lap, but it could be done. Another possible solution is combination of two buttons where the second button is pressed before the first button is released.
Garmin does actually have that for some of the button shortcuts and that works reasonably well, but buttons should be on the opposing sides of the case for that to be usable.
