Any update on new firmware release?
-
Hi, Is there any chance to get for the Ocean, an update similar to 2.50.28 released to other watches?
Thx
-
@karollos i would not count on it. Updates are always a difficult item here.
-
With the launch of the new computers, the Ocean is dead.
The excuse is that, despite the name Ocean, it is a multi-activity device, where diving is just one sport among a long list of activities.
I said a long time ago that updates would only come from other multi-activity watches, since they would already be ready. As for diving, at most, there will be minor bug fixes.
Soon enough, someone will show up saying that there is no official statement and that we are wrong for wanting a device that takes better care of divers’ health and is more efficient and informative.

I sort of hope a delay in release of Nautic S means when it ships, many of its changes will make it to the updated Ocean, but it’s a very long shot at this point.
Usually a deafening silence about a product on one hand and the release of products that effectively are taking over (AMOLED Vertical 2 and Nautic S) on the other, means that yeah… Ocean is like that old grandpa at a family dinner, with everyone guessing if they still gonna see him next year.

Search the forum, it was written recently that Ocean is not dead.
But saying when something will be out, the answer is the usual one… -
Another update from Garmin https://forums.garmin.com/outdoor-recreation/outdoor-recreation/f/fenix-8-series/431439/fenix-8-fenix-8-pro-microled-system-software-21-25
Their stuff is continuously supported, even multisport watches with diving functions - like Fenix 8.
Sad that Suunto, European brand is unable to keep the pace US brands, and is unable to write the firmware using partioned scheduling, asymmetric multi-processing,etc. for multi core applications…
nowadays software is what brings the most value
-
Suunto’s software is built with a strong focus on reliability, battery efficiency, and safety-critical performance, especially on diving products. Just like other global brands in this space, architectural decisions are driven by long-term stability and real-world use — not geography or marketing comparisons.

@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos Sorry to say it, but if Reliability and Battery efficiency would be the focus for Multisport watches we wouldn’t have the current problems with Crashes, not working Bluetooth sensors and Battery drain.
For Dive products this might be. Had two Zoops, both died with depth sensor problems. So it wasn’t software… -
@VoiGAS not really sure why the chat here AGAIN, please keep this scoped before we pollute all threads with the same discussion.

@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos The question was why the Firmware is late and YOU started to argue. I doubted it and I think free exchange of opinions is what a forum is for. Also I think my post had no aggressive speech or similar in it. And my claims are well supported by user reports.
So I have no idea why you are saying MY post is off topic.
But this should end here - you accused me and I think I had all the right to defend myself
