Vertical 2 syncing of routes
-
Hi all! Hope you can help me with my query.
I am undecided between the Vertical 2 and the Fenix 8. Both have their pros and cons as can be seen from a quick search on the net but I am currently leaning more for the Vertical 2. My only gripes are the non-routable maps (which I can live with, since I do not create routes on the field) and the maximum number of 15ish routes on the watch. Regarding this matter, can anyone confirm or otherwise:
- If the routes on the Suunto app are available without internet connection? Are they stored on the mobile device or only in cloud, requiring internet to access them.
- Is syncing of routes from Suunto app to SV2 done via Bluetooth without the need of an internet connection?
Just asking so that I can see if there is some sort of workaround to the limited number of routes that can be downloaded to the SV2.
TIA

@Wenzudeg You can sync and add routes offline. You can also create routes offline in SuuntoApp, but only manually (without routing), i.e., by drawing on the map.

@Wenzudeg You can sync routes between the watch and the app while fully offline using the BT connection. Even better routes will sync during an exercise/activity and the new route can be selected in the watch and followed. I did this last weekend.
Drawing a route in the app requires a cellular connection now but I think offline maps in the app may be coming. -
@Brad_Olwin Thanks. That’s a good workaround to the limited number of routes on watch.

@Brad_Olwin You can draw a route offline on the map, but only using the “Free drawing” option, i.e. just drawing straight lines by hand. A bit more time-consuming, but it can be used offline.

But currently you need a map of the given area in the application cache.
