Suunto Software update Q1 (2.53.42)
-
@isazi Didn’t test after rebooting after updating the watch (by holding upper button on Suunto Race S) but before the update yup it resetted pace and power zones, and after updating the watch, the zones were reset again
-
*only the pace zones (for running), not the power zones, sorry
-
@Théo-Tuphé yep only pace zones. But at my Vertical2 its after every Softreset the same. All pace Setting reset

@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos said in Suunto Software update Q1 (2.53.42):
Information about other devices
• Suunto 9 Peak Pro
Due to hardware limitations, Suunto 9 Peak Pro will not receive further software updates adding new features. Its last feature update was released in January 2026. However, the device will continue receiving new watch faces and compatible SuuntoPlus Apps.@dimitrios-kanellopoulos, I understand the watch hardware limitations, but the last firmware update (January 2026) is really not bug free!
A lots of users have widely reported back light issues, i.e., back light stucks and wont turn off automatically, OHR sensor (still) turns off during night (long-standing bug…)… Personally, I’m still running 2.48.16 since is more stable that 2.50.26.
So, will Suunto address these bugs or a really great watch will stay forever buggy?
-
@GiPFELKiND weird, my pace zones have not been changed by this update, and nothing has ever changed after rebooting the watch
-
@GiPFELKiND I have the same issue on my Vertical 2. Pace zones reset every time after a soft reset.

@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos o
Super update richtig tolle arbeit…
Vielen Dank -

Thanks for great update!
Why no map update for Race 1? Will it come later? -
@HonzaS not enough resources
-
@isazi Thanks for explain!

@Miroslava I understand your disappointment. I asked because I sold my previous Race 1 to a colleague. But the update still brings a lot of other improvements. Interestingly, I already have descriptions and POIs on the map, even though I haven’t received any map updates yet. Anyway, the map is finally readable now, and it would be nice to get color-coded hiking trails too.

If you are riding a dead horse, dismount.
As an owner of a 9PP and Vertical it’s time to change. Both watches cannot connect my bike power meter, loose the connection to external heart rate sensors when mounted on the handlebar of the (kick) bike, reset the watch faces to the standard watch faces while syncing with Suunto plus (I reported the bugs several times here in the forum without any results). No fun at all since firmware 2.40.xx. I’ve definitely had enough.

I will stay with the Suunto Sparten Ultra, which is working without all these issues.

Do you have race 2 ? Please send me some photo from your watch when i can see your map. I am really sad in the future i byy suunto race 3 upgrade this
-
Congratulations to the entire Suunto Team for this wonderful update.

Pretty cool update!
As an S9PP owner, I’m not disappointed that there’s no more updates. The watch has matured pretty nicely and the biggest problem that I have is that I might change to something newer like Vertical 2, but… S9PP still works well and there are no cutting edge hardware features available in Vertical 2 line that would make me want to switch at this very moment.
I simply don’t understand the pursuit for the newest. It works. It’s reliable. Suunto App gets new updates, there are new S+ apps. Yeah, there’s no new firmware, but you can’t update the old watch forever. Anyhow, the S9PP was more of a proof of concept for the new UI and it got a ton of updates since its release.

Update went smoothly on my SRs ; live testing report on a small hike…it’s an awesome update !!
Climb v3.0 is perfect now !
Label on maps (altitude lines also for instance !)
Custom fields option on maps and guidance
Touchscreen to navigate from screen to screen !
WOW !!!
(Just now hope that SV1 get a few things, climb v3.0 And custom fields on maps and guidance - don’t need more and would definitely makes SV1 near perfect)
…
Awesome job !

@Miroslava Just send PM

I haven’t had a chance to test the new software in the mountains yet, but I don’t like the 40m distance, which will display an “off-route” message and will likely cause Climb Guidance to stop working.
In my opinion, this distance is definitely too short for more rugged terrain or, for example, in winter, when it’s not always safe to stick to the trail (avalanches).
