      On a long trail run yesterday, I encountered several issues with the route I had uploaded to my watch. Instead of a consistent map display, it kept switching between different appearances: a route-only view with no surrounding map (reminiscent of older, basic long forgotten navigation screens), a route overlaid with a black-and-white grid and no proper map, and a partial map view where sections were missing and replaced by that same grid pattern.

      Only occasionally did the map display correctly, and even then it was inconsistent. For me, precise mapping and smooth responsiveness—especially when zooming or adjusting the view—are absolutely essential.

      The GPS signal was strong, the weather conditions were normal, the watch is running the latest firmware, and there are no obvious reasons for these map issues. The GPX file was uploaded from an external app, as I’ve done countless times before without any problems.

      The only possible explanation I can think of is the latest update. I also had turn-by-turn navigation enabled, which I don’t usually use—so that could be a factor as well.

      I’m unsure whether this was a one-off glitch or a broader issue. It hasn’t happened before since the update, but I’ll test it again on Friday after performing a soft reset and hope for a smooth, reliable navigation experience.

        @peegee

        The behaviour you describe I’ve only seen on my race s when the map of the area I was in was only partial downloaded.

        Quite recently there is a map update. Could it be that the map of your area isn’t installed properly/completely?
