The idea of an optical “all day” HRM is interesting, but if the current Suunto HRM chest strap needs to be updated to comply with regulations, then I don’t think it will be replaced by an optical version. This is simply due to the fact that ZoneSense cannot use optical and requires a chest strap. So I don’t see Suunto stopping the sales of a chest strap.

I’d be interested in a Suunto version of Polar Loop, Whoop, etc. where I could alternate between using the Race S for actual sessions, and a screenless device for sleep and “ambient all day recording” when not in a session.

They could just rebrand one of the newer Movesense models and gain features like ECG, temperature and movement. One of the models has the name HR2…
