These delays in updates make it seem like the “new” Suunto is abandoning watches older than 2 years… not a good look, especially since the Suunto Vertical is still featured on the official homepage.

@Manuel-Extreme Just a reminder: even when the Vertical 1 launched, it had serious performance problems – Suunto had to strip out full widgets, contour lines, map details and so on. So they managed to add a lot of things in the end, despite the hardware limitations

@Manuel-Extreme I agree… I bought mine in May 2023 (€800) and the fact that it can no longer be updated after the December 2025 update is extremely frustrating (The watch might get an update, but I think that will be the last one.)

The Vertical 1 was the first watch to feature maps and other features compared to the historical watches.
I really hope that the Watch series following the Vertical will not go down the same path. I’m looking forward to the upcoming updates for the other watches.

Suunto 9 peak pro: 3 years updates is good and reasonnable.

Vertical 1 is still an excellent device. I still see it very often on athletes’ wrists during ultra races.
In my opinion, a good update policy should not be shorter than 5 years, which for most consumers is the minimum usage window before even considering a replacement.
For smartphones, the European Union requires manufacturers to provide operating system updates for at least 5 years after the product is taken off the market, as well as ensuring spare parts availability for 7 years.
I think the same should apply to sports watches.

I agree that V1 still is the best watch suunto has built in recent years.

what distinguishes phones from watches is, that watches do not need security updates. V1 works perfectly well with the last release.
of course we see new features on V2 and R2 that would be nice to have.
if I hadto decide today for a new suunto I would still go for V1.

                Hello,

Is there any timeline for the next update. I experience the issue when backlight stays on even when it’s not activated in settings. This drains batterry extremelly fast. I did not find a way to replicate the issue - it happens from time to time.

If anything is to be prioritized I suppose this is it

                Thank you

Has anyone seen or heard any rumours yet regarding updates for the neglected V1?

@LitchiMonster Why is the V1 neglected? There are very clear statements on the issues with updating V1 and clear statements on what Suunto stated. I still use my Vertical 1, it is my favorite Suunto and does everything I need.

@Brad_Olwin the absence of a clear timeline and what to expect gives (to some of us who are not that well connected with Suunto) the perception that it is neglected.

@thanasis then all Suunto watches are neglected?
