Race 3S & Race 3 rumours
-
@Tami999 also you now find a FCC filing for the watch model number OW265.
NFC and 5GHz WiFi are the points that I’ve seen in them at a first glance…
But 499€ is quite an increase over the 349€ for the Race S…
-
-
@SergioB ah, in that case, 50€ increase is ok, I guess…

I’m curious to see what Race 3S will bring on the software side… If we consider that we currently have Race S at around 300€ that runs almost same software of most recent watches (R2 and V2) and has similar battery life or R3S, the 200€ difference “just” for materials are a bit much IMO.
Yes, RS does not have the latest OHR (but if we want e.g. Zonesense, we still need to use a chest strap) or the latest GNSS chipset (but I don’t recall RS being not accurate).
So, nothing, I’m just really curious:) Maybe with some more new software features (that will not be included in future RS updates) maybe R3S will become more appealing to me also

Im interested in seeing what the new Race 3s will bring as well. Ive seen some of the leaks and it looks quite sleek. Apparently the weight is 53grams which would align with the Run 2 (with silicone strap) weight.
If this is the case, then I guess the differentiator would be potentially materials between the two and added price.

@SergioB
I think and hope that Race 3(s) will have the new v3 OS from the Run which Suunto then will have to extend to handle structured runs with configurable data screens. So less use of Apps and Guides and more functionality built in. Allowing direct upload of a workout from any source like intervals.icu without having to go through a Guide that cannot be configured.
That plus AI functionality has probably been a huge effort for Suunto. What typically happens when you do a completely new generation of SW is that the user becomes disappointed because there is not so many new features. But as they tend to say the new architecture enables more advanced features in the future.
Note this is purely my speculation, I have no insight into what Suunto is doing!

@matram I hope the Race 3s will also get the Run software but hopefully with added external training plan syncing functionality…
Honestly the Run OS is great and has a lot of upsides compared to the Race/Vertical OS but for me not having external workout sync is quite disappointing

I use a lot of Suunto watch…
And honestly, for me, there is no better OS. It will be good that Suunto take the best of the two OS.
Just for example. The clic to switch the page is better than the scroll.
And the down button to skip the phase in training intervals …. -
And PLEASE Suunto keep the original sound of the start up activity !!

-
Nice find in Spain, but what is a silicon-carbon battery? Never heard…
-
-
@strain No, it won’t get the Run software. Joakin has said it many times on Telegram.
-
@Highlands Do you know any comparison between the two OS? Or the differences?
-
I am really curious what the new features will be. In the moment all the new models are very close. I would like more differences like e.g. the Vertical 1 (MIP/Solar), Ocean ( dive functions), 9 Peak Pro (small and light).
With Race 1, Race 2, Race S, Vertical 2 und Run2 there are already five watches that are very similar. All of them have no Dive functions, no MIP, no Solar and even the Race S is not really small.
Garmin is doing better here to cover different needs -
@VoiGAS Garmin is capping their software despite same hardware capabilities. Hopefully the Race 3S will get all software features available, despite being an S.
Race 2 and Vertical 2 have some software features that the older models do not have. Even the Race S has some that the Race has not like the full new map experience. The Race only got part of it…
-
- cover screen to sleep or turn screen off
- greater hr zone customization (Can choose lthr)
- more details in some widgets
- in my opinion a better pre workout screen
- resume later a workout
There are some more but overall it is a nice software with some added functionality compared to the race software. This is not to say there aren’t things missing because there are such as the ability to move to the next workout screen with the scroll button presses rather than needing to literally scroll the wheel. The ability to have external training plans, etc.
