Climb guidance issues with Suunto OCEAN after 2.51.28 update
Hi there, I have a Suunto OCEAN for about 1,5 years and everything worked pretty well, but after the 2.51.28 update I’ve noticed an issue with climbing assistance.
Just after this update, during a run I noticed that the climbing guidance does not work anymore. The watch screen just shows the climbing profile but in grey (no more colors) and the zoom between waypoints to see the next climb can be shown. It does not work on every activity that uses this feature : Run, trekking, hiking… (See photos)
I tried (multiple times) to turn off my watch, reinitialise, disconnect and reconnect it to my phone, discard and reinstall the maps but nothing improved the bug.
I have contacted the Suunto support and sent my watch in réparation, they replaced my watch but nothing changed after the configuration. So I sent it back and after 3 weeks in réparation they can be able to repair this bug and just send me back my watch and say that it can be a software issue (that I supposed at first) that their team is working on.
Does anyone have the same issues ? What can I do ?
Thanks !

@gregB it is not a problem with the watch itself, as it happens to every watch with every firmware at the moment. Should be fixed with a backend or app update.

@isazi
Hi, I search in the support forum but can’t find a topic for this issues.
It is not working in every Suunto ? -
@gregB yes it seems broken since few weeks

@isazi
Thanks for your respons !
Hop it will be fixe soon. -
@gregB I just heard that this has been fixed with the last App update (that may or may not have been released yet, probably not considering you have the issue)

Got me an Ocean and reading this thread now in October. When can we expect even the new map features to this device? Why isn’t this device supported like Race 2 and Vertical 2 with it’s premium price tag?

@Jamppper Yes, I have asked this same question just to not get an answer. It is on the Suunto Q1 and Q2 wrap-up videos on Youtube, saying publicly that its coming to the Ocean, but 6 months later still nothing. I get that testing on the Ocean takes longer, but at this rate Ocean always stays 6-9 months behind on any features and meaningful updates. I have suggested on the forum as well as to Suunto to have two tracks for Ocean updates, one with longer testing on dive features, and a second track for sports updates.

@SergioB Hmm… I get that, but what do mapping features have to do with diving features? Why not just update it like the Race 2 and Vertical 2, and then roll out the diving features in a separate update once they’re ready and properly tested?
A watch that’s perfectly capable of doing the same things as the other models shouldn’t be left behind for over half a year just because some unrelated features aren’t ready yet. That’s just plain WRONG!

@Jamppper Sorry I don’t have any idea why

I get your point,… Maybe they are waiting to introduce outdoor-related features to prevent introducing bugs (see e.g. random reboots during activities that seem to occur on some V2, and that were discussed in this forum weeks ago)… I don’t know, just guessing
