My watch (Race) crashed this morning, during a Parkrun. I’m trying to send feedback to Suunto, including the logs, but unfortunately the SuuntoApp crashed when trying to send the logs. Is there a way to extract the logs manually to send via normal e-mail?

Within the SuuntoApp, I’ve tried the standalone option to send logs, as well as sending feedback and checking the option to send logs as part of the feedback request. Both crash the app.

If you have Suunto SDK installed on Visual Studio Code and the watch paired to VS Code, you can inspect the logs on the watch that way. I understand if this is not something you want to pursue. You will need a bit of programming experience to go this route.

I have tried a bit of app development on the Race S. And when I got crashes it was typically because the Suunto OS ran out of some resource and panicked. The log was often not super clear on the root cause.

For trouble shooting purposes it may be useful to know what apps you were running at the same time and if you were using maps for navigation. A precursor to panics were often sluggish updates of the GUI prior to the crash. Did you observe anything like this?

@matram Thanks for the info… I’ll give that a try tomorrow (fairly busy today)… I’m a software developer by trade, so am not scared of getting my hands dirty!

The only app I have is the Parkrun app (for the barcode at the end), and as it was a Parkrun, there was no navigation in play; the courses are pretty well marshalled and well detailed! The watch is paired to a chest strap for heart rate.

Luckily, the watch crashed after 4.95km, so I got most of the activity recorded, losing only around 15 seconds at the end. I didn’t notice any sluggishness - it was literally just as I crossed the finish line I went to stop the activity, and the watch was displaying the Suunto logo!
