@jorgefd78 This is Wear OS for you. Yesterday after the run I was checking battery usage. Pandora came up at 1% even though I haven’t touched that app in 48 hours and I think even rebooted my watch at some point. Since the app is a total PoS on the watch, I simply promptly uninstalled it. But I’m sure there can be more, starting with Wear OS itself. Google Play itself is a strange and buggy animal.

I did AOD vs non-AOD and frankly, I’m not seeing that much difference. Does the screen even go blank when in Suunto app? Every time I look at my watch, Suunto app displays ambient screen with music buttons.

@jorgefd78 that is really low to be honest. (or very high consumption). Should not like so.

The battery consumption during the day was freaking awesome but not running. After 4 tests running I realize that I don’t want to test more and decide to go with a suunto 9. When SA accepts more than one watch in a easy way I will buy again. The watch is awesome

Is there a way to set an alarm with sound? I can only set it to vibrate. Did I miss something? Thanks.

3:10 h mountain biking, a lot of notifications from the phone, 30 minutes AOD

                    Battery 75 % -> 49 %

Altitude perfect, ascent (820 m) and descent (817 m) perfect, minimum and maximum altitude exact, Ambit 3 or any other Suunto watch can’t be better.

                    S7 rocks! 🎉👍

The watch doesn’t have a speaker. So unless you fancy sleeping in headphones or pairing with Bluetooth speakers, the answer is no.

Hey Guys, I was thinking of acquiring a Suunto 7 for Marathon-training, however I couldn’t find any information on Spotify Offline integration, since I would like to leave my phone at home during training. In the video of DC Rainmaker from January it was a confirmed feature, however I cannot find it now in the product-specifications. Does anybody use Spotify offline with this watch?
                            Cheers
                            Nick

@touarec Play Music from Google can be used offline and standalone. For Spotify there is the official app, which is just a remote control of the app on the smartphone. And there is a modded version, which is a standalone app for the S7, in the full version there is a download mode integrated:

Have you looked at Sporty Go? I know I keep plugging it, but it does work fairly well with all sorts of sensors. Heart rate, Stryd, bike. I just did recovery spin bike session and it handled speed/cadence and HR sensors just fine. Battery drain is extremely manageable, about 6% per half an hour with AOD in ambient mode. It has configurable screens. Runs just fine in the background while you use another app, like an interval timer or music, in the foreground.

I’d say a perfect alternative to Suunto’s own until Team Finland realizes most people rushing to drop $499 on a Wear OS watch are probably looking for more than a Fitbit Ionic experience sports-wise.

PS I talked to Stryd support the other day. Sadly, they have no plans for Wear OS app, not even anything basic like their ConnectIQ apps for Garmin. Their current recommendation is to use Sporty Go. But the dev of that app is working towards deeper Training Peaks integration, possibly including structured workouts, so… Support the good dude!

@NickK I’ve read about it, I hope to have a S7 soon, here in the island I live aren’t atm available.

I think Suunto initially is not targeting for the users who uses sensors in sports with this watch IMHO. But maybe the feedback can open new features. This watch should be able to manage a marathon +4 hours, which are more in the scope of this watch.

@NickK How was your experience with Sporty Go and Stryd, did you manage to test that?
Also, once your are done with your run or ride what happens with activity, where is it logged, does it stays inside Sporty Go and you can later see it only there or it can be exported to Google fit or even better Suunto app?

Haven’t tested that, but probably will. I’m a bit under weather to run outdoors, so treadmill would be a good starting point.

You can configure it to automatically upload to Training Peaks, Strava, or Final Surge. Personally I upload to Strava (this happens pretty much instantly), and from there use Phone Gap to push the workout into other platforms.

I asked a dev about supporting direct uploads to Suunto cloud, but sadly existing public API only allows for export, according to him. When Suunto lets you import workouts from elsewhere, he’d gladly add that route. I realize both Movescount and Sports Tracker are probably targets for import too and automatic sync to Suunto cloud, but they are kind of legacy, so I didn’t ask about them.

@Bulkan I also am interested in hearing more about the restrictions preventing Suunto sleep tracking syncing with Apple health. If this synced I could then utilize that information to sync with my health benefits tracking through work and my nutrition and workout tracking with my coach. Hoping this issue is resolved soon. Any news on if this Eli’s expected as a fix soon?
