The Suunto 9 got smaller and sleaker. The Suunto 7 got a titanium edition. I’m guessing it’s the Suunto 5 turn to get a new improved version.

Suunto 7 with newer android wear?
I think that or a newer 9 with same hardware as the peak, it would make sense for the fans of big watches, for the range…to have a “competitor” to the F6/F6X Sapphire just like the S9P “compeats” with F6SS.
Let’s wait to see.
Honestly I am more curious about software news than the “hardware”. I think with the peak, regarding hardware Suunto is already doing very good. -

Doubt it. Seems like Wear 3.0 right now is an exclusive club consisting of Samsung and Google. Obviously others will get access, but seems they are putting the spotlight on Samsung for now.

@andré-faria I doubt it, as no WiFi is listed in the spec: I can’t see an Android Wear not having WiFi. Its only connectivity is Bluetooth and GNSS.
@Aleksander-H your logic is sound, but the 5’s model number is OW-186, and based on the other model numbers I’d expect a new 5 to be OW-187. (Interestingly the 7 is OW-185, making me think OW-18* is mid-tier.)
I’ve done some heavy Googling - and I’m open to have missed something - but I can’t find a Suunto product line that starts with OW-2**. I can’t find a photo of the back of the D5, though.

The 9P was made for adventurer, maybe a new watch for runners ? Is there a baro in the spec ?

I’ve checked someting and I think it could be a new suunto 5.
the spartan trainer is ow 163 (released about 2017)
Suunto 5 (Suunto trainer 2) is ow 186 (released about 2019)
and OW 202 could be …?spartan ultra is ow 161 (2016)

@zhang965 Reading tea leaves and bone cracks, here’s a thought though: a big reason for people to pick up S5 was the size, no? Apart from baro and a few other things, I’d say S9 and S5 are totally equivalent. Now S9P takes the size argument away.
Where does it leave S5? What can it possibly offer over S9P other than price? And what’s gonna get removed feature- or hardware-wise to make said price?
Also, if all recent models of the past few series were codenamed OW-1xx, under 200, wouldn’t it suggest 200+ is something quite new and not a continuation of existing lines?
My bet is a mythical S11, with LifQ OHR sensor package, a new processor and expanded memory capable of running multiple S+ fields and perhaps structured workouts plans from places like TP and FinalSurge. Maybe, a Fenix 6X like 1.4” MIPS display, with ALS similar to A9P. Who knows? Ambit like user programmed data fields via S+ public API and such?
Either that, or a new diving watch that, like Garmin Descent, will combine both daily tracking/sports and diving.

@nickk S5 could follow new design of S9 Peak with new internals and with lower grade materials. That would mean lower price, interesting for someone who does not want to spend 500+ € for a sport watch. And let’s not forget adaptive training, it was available only for S3/5. Maybe not interesting for serious athletes but nice feature for ordinary people looking for variety in sport activities.

And, it seems all flagship Watchs had censored name in fccid.io ? like spartan ultra, ambit3 peak and 9, 9 peak are all called Sports watch with GPS and BLE Connectivity,
but the lower watchs had the real name? as suunto 5, 7, trainer
I don’t think suunto will soonly release a new top line watch,

I might be agree with you about the new flagship, but the problem is the S lines are sharing the same firmware to simplify the dev. So, in my point of view, there is no need to just release a new flagship to complete the features. excepting adding (something like )a map on the watch, but… I don’t think the Suunto’s own firmware will get it.
If it’s a new physic appearance, well, I think the S9P is the top one, excepting suunto adds a solar power on S9P call it S9P solar or something and call it Suunto 9 ultra peak?
The nightmare could be… a suunto 9 peak without baro… Like suunto did once for suunto 9. When 9 was released, 9 had had baro, just a couple of weeks later… they call the original suunto 9 as baro, and a new suunto 9 for…no-baro.
So, I think the ow 202 could be… Suunto 5 peak…which is the new look for S5? (but I think S5 is more like the ambit serie)

Are these numbers Suunto’s responsibility or are they assigned by FCC?
For me S5P could make sense.
This is my whishlist:
- New GNSS
- New BT5.0
- LiveQ HR + SOp2
- Updated HW
- Baro (please please please)
- 300€
- S9P like design (like S3 but with GPS)
- Smaller battery
- Training Peaks integration
- Firstbeat metrics (with adaptative training)

@dulko79 exactly, and in some countries, S9P cost is more than one month salary. Not everyone can afford to pay that much for watch. And price difference between S5 and S9P meens you pay over 400€ just for compas and barometer and better battery but for lot of people battery life 16-20h for hiking on S5 is enough.

in summary, there is a couple of possiblilities:
a new flagship watch, as the firmware version is 2,16 in the fcc report, so it could be a new flagship sharing the same firmware with 9/5/3, Do you think this is necessaire? As the S9P is already completed flagship a new flagship more expensive than S9P? will you buy it?
a Suunto 9 successor, I know we had S9P now, but don’t forget the S9 has a mark as GEN1, will it be a GEN2 soon? I don’t think so, S9 serie is messed up a little bit now, we have original S9(B) Gen1 and new design S9B but still marked GEN1, S9P has no GEN marks but if ow 161 is spartanultra, 183 is S9, 202 could be a real successor (GEN2) for S9, So the S9P 194 is an … Expansion pack of S9B GEN1 ? If 202 could be the S9. GEN2, well, the Suunto 9 serie will be more complex than whole suunto serie. S9P, S9(B) GEN2, new S9B GEN1, S9(b) GEN1. And you know the S9 is almost the same price as Suunto 5 now… if it’s true, it’s nighmare
Suunto 5 Gen 2, it’s the most logic answer, it’s the time for redesign S5 now, but if the new S5 costs 300 euros, why you don’t buy a S9?
