@freeheeler I think if there ever will be a lock button feature Suunto will certainly name it after you
-
@surfboomerang stoggle
-
-
@freeheeler good one right ?
-
@dimitrios-kanellopoulos
absolutely!! I like puns
…but only my SA connections will understand -
@dušan-ković yeah like - why even show the screen if there’s no media detected and it stays blank?
I’m worried that it may not get its way into workout settings as it’s impossible in current state of firmware and may require rewrite of workout preparation module which won’t come soon (or ever).
This is somewhat similar to standby in S5. It would be great if it was also programmable per workout.

Suunto 9 Peak user here.
There are welcome enhancements in this firmware update. I’ve seen some evidence on my last run that ascent/descent values are much more accurate. I like the media controls and the new, minimalist watch face.
A couple notes:
-
I concur with others: I don’t like that notification text is now shoved to the bottom half of the watch. It’s much less readable and often cut off on the sides. It’s one more step to scroll down when I used to be able to quickly glance at the text/email and move on. And in any case, with iOS, I only have a “clear” option. Perhaps theres a way to remedy this problem and keep the new notification reaction/options? Like a side swipe?
-
I used to get alarms on my Suunto that I set and created on the iPhone, but not the watch (through bluetooth). That feature is gone after this latest firmware update. I’ve always felt it would be nice to have multiple, custom alarms on the watch - that would get around this issue.

@surfboomerang Yup, it needs to be per activity. I just came home from trail run.
- turning media controls in watch settings is not user friendly, it just takes too much time.
- when I don’t listen to music during activity media control screen is just another unused screen that I have to skip in order to get to useful stuff on other screens. I know it is just one button press, but when you are running through forest you don’t need just one more press
- before activity start, there are options where we can turn wrist HR, sensors, gps, etc on or off. It would be best for media control on or off switch to find its place somewhere here
I also agree about including media control as an option per sport mode. I don’t listen to music during any activities so it is just an extra screen I have to scroll through now.
I would also be happy to be able to have an option so that media control does not appear when I press the middle button during standard watch mode (it’s now a screen that appears before notifications).
Both seem like they could be small fixes so hopefully they will be included in a future update?The new watch face on the S9P is nice, but I wish there were color options like for the other watch faces.
-
@bnorthrop You should be able to toggle off media controls from the setting (main page menu), if you do so they disappear entirely until you turn them back on. I did so, when I push the middle button I have no media control I am directly on the notification page.
However, to my knowledge is an “all or nothing” proposition; that is you can’t de-activate media control selectively while leaving them available exclusively for certain sports profiles.
-
@herlas hey there herlas - did you manage to send predefined message? I can’t see how to do this…
-
I assume it’s by design, but still would like to mention:
Wouldn’t it be better if on the third screen (notification screen) a press of the middle button would trigger animation of going to the left instead of to the right as it’s done now? It would make an impression of lopped menu just as in the exercise. -
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos So, my wife has S3 Fitness, it didn’t received updates for a while. Did Suunto abandoned it?
-
@Dušan-Ković
It seems it’s not

@giacomo-laffranchini Thank you! I guess I had not played around with the new functions yet.
-
@dušan-ković 3fitness is not Suunto 3 unfortunately
-
Now I need both hands to know what I can only see by raising my arm. This feature needs to be fixed
-
@suzzlo I have problem with all apps using Android (Google Pixel). No media detected by the watch.
Tried to disassociate the watch from the bluetooth from the Suunto app but no success.
Any ideas? -
@becco981 notifications are turned on, aren’t they? I mean on the watch itself.
-
-
@dmytro yes, notifications turned on on the watch
