@cosmecosta Even thou I do ultras, I fully agree with what you mention. With the battery management coming to SSU I think it will be good enough (at least as long as the price point is today).

@dimitrios-kanellopoulos said in S9 is the top model:

hehe I can post screens if you like. Both my baro and SSU have all these thingies and some more great stuff to come
I think, next update has to be a big one, so it might take some time. (from my experience with Suunto updates)

Of course, I want to see all pics you can post here.
It’s a good news that Suunto update all Spartan with the same function!
        😀

It seems that we continue in closed circuit … lots of ideas, suggestions, bugs reports but almost stopped… for vacations.
          So, until September.

@luís-pinto in our contry we almost do not have vocations 🙂 but for me it is as well quite strange explanation for slow development, do they struggle with Human Resources? 🙂 In current company in which I work developement isn’t impacted by vocation period as we share workload by covering each over.

@slash everybody have rights. No question. This is a confirmation that at some point develop of app stopped. No comunication at all. We still now in close circuit.

@slash As I live in the Nordics I can confirm that it is usual that things “slow down” during summer, so this is not only Suunto.
Remember we only have summer for 2-3 months a year, the rest is wet, dark, rainy and cold. 😀

@marius-jacobsen-eggerud same in our country with summer 🙂 but you have 3 months to spread between team members. We cannot afford to let everyone out at the same time so all are scheduling their vocations 😉

@marius-jacobsen-eggerud It is just speculation so tread this with grain of salt, we had some situation when development was running on few senior guys and if they on sick/annual leave we had impact of development performance. Now we spread tasks between teammates and working more in agile way than waterfal 😉

Ya know, I’ve decided that Suunto Updates will come like babies come; they will be here when they’re ready, and not a moment before, no matter how much we yell, scream, kick, cry, and whine… LOL I know, we all want to see what the “newest” stuff is, but when it’s released, it’s not “new” anymore, so we wait patiently for a day or two before we start wanting the next “newest” update… Amusing to watch…

'Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty … rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "Wow! What a Ride!”.

Development is not stopped we get updates and features. It might be even faster as most people now leave developers alone so again I will post about this please stop any speculations here or how a company works before I put a boot on. This personally irritates me.

As far as I know you and me are consumers not supervisors nor CEO/CTO. Stick to that.

For your information Ambit and diving watch support is already in your app, but as an easter egg, the elevation bug is almost fixed, the backend supports fit exports, Sport mode customization is 90% done (I actually use it all the time), route planning ascent is fixed, route planning is coming to android, other things that Ill keep my mouth shut are coming after summer as well.

So you might very very soon get the above. The only thing that stalls atm this to come to you is more the decision, before someone berserks again support why his already paired Ambit does not pair with the app.

So vacation or not we are not machines. To the nordic countries vacation is outmost essential. Nordic counties want to provide a good human living conditions and if you want to go comparing this way I bet most of the worlds countries have a lot to be jeleus about the nordic countries.

But hey on the other side, other companies have the chineese kids, the chineese factories with high suicide rates and a 1e max per day salaries with no vacation.

As a consumer I bet you might not care, that is ok, but that says a lot about you then as a person to be honest. (since we gone this way conversing I ll go though it all the way).

You know, Suunto, does not have any obligation to provide any watch update if they want to. You should be great full.

What people sometimes think here, and yes I see that, is that Suunto is some big company that tries to fool people and make money.

Suunto is not a Garmin size company. Apart from the StakeHolders all people are elite or top athletes that love like crazy the products they build. I bet if you ask anyone that has been to the summit as a consumer he will say the same.

                              So please do not speculate.

@slash You must believe in facts, not promises. Tomorrow we will be dead.
But more important than a watch, app or whatever the most crucial is our human machine.
When you are fine, watch is just a small instrument.
Sometimes we give too much importance to what is less important.

                                    • Watch: works.
                                    • App: works.
                                    • Weather: hot and sunny.
                                    • Few tiny details: we have to get a little creative, say using Movescount, RunGap and the Suunto app, but it’s a choice we’ve made, knowing what we were getting into.

Now is a wonderful time to use watch and app, both for us, and for the people that make our watch and app to go and use their watch and app, so they can come back to their compiler full drive to make shiny new things for us to complain about. I haven’t had a good bug to grumble about in a while and I’m having to enjoy the sun instead. Untenable!

Side note: I think we’re doing exercise wrong if we let the hardware we use to quantify our exercise get in the way.

Now I’m going to eBay to look for a powder-blue Ambit3 Peak because apparently it’s an Easter egg.

@dimitrios-kanellopoulos I accept your words, but I don’t get for what you guys wait for? Give to us bits by bits to test, we do not expect bunch of stuff in one release, just give us iterations of application or release with bug fixes to check if bug fix haven’t broke something. We can again end up with bunch of bugs with big releases, smaller releases with some new stuff would be just fine. Week 1-2 elevation fix boom tested none issues, week 3-4 routes planning with elevation profile boom tested none issues and so on 😉 now beta is going in line with official release so we are becoming official release testers and losing purpose of the beta, my 2 cents 😉

@slash I hear you on the agile approach, but this release sounds like the culmination of a few different projects: I imagine there’s a strategic reason for the monolithic update push, and whilst we can’t grasp it, makes sense to the person/team we entrust with delivering us what we want.
