With all the respects to everybody and agreeing that everything that is introduced should work but in my opinion most of the complains here are small things that most of them is said that will be solved in the next update and doesn’t degrade the sports usefulness of the watch (which in my opinion is the most important thing)
You can be a little bit pissed because CTL is one day off but for me will be worst if instant pace or altitude is not reliable.
On the other hand, honest question, instead of saying what make you leave Suunto I ask you what make you choose Garmin (or other brand)? What has this other brand that if far better and a decision point to go with them?In my case I’m pretty pissed with my Garmin (530 edge) disconnecting every now and then from the sensors, restarting from time to time mid activity, the stupid rerouting system when you actively do not follow the loaded track among other things. I do love the integration with Strava segments and ClimbPro (it is a pity the delay that it has in %ascent/descent when using ClimbPro).
BTW I completely agree that Suunto should improve the text size in structured workouts and add the step number (as intervals.icu does)

I’m quite happy with the watch and waiting for fixes but when you don’t know what fixes should be coming, it’s like asking how long is a piece of string.
The issues I have are not little for me.

@David-l If history is any indication we typically see updates in Fall and Summer. I would say it would be safe to assume sometime in late June to early July we would see the next firmware update.
Again speculation, and going off history but that is typically the timeframe. Bug fixes are usually addressed in the summer updates (Fall tends to have more feature updates).
My Baro 9 had GPS issues in the beginning but they were sorted out by the time summer rolled around and I was using tracking more (biking, hiking, camping etc.). I always go for hardware, software is a rolling target and (at least to me) is fixed over time versus being stuck

One thing I find strange is no one mentions Garmin’s bugs. As an ex Garmin user for over a decade I never had a unit of their, be it watch, bike computer, bathroom scales or GPS that didn’t have bugs.
I moved to Suunto (and Wahoo for bike computer) several years ago and have found both much more reliable than Garmin. And in the Suunto case it also feels much better made
In my local cycling club ten years ago Garmin was universal, now Wahoo is probably the most used, because of the universal issues with Garmin bike computers. Still a lot use Garmin and apparently the newer models are more reliable.I’m not knocking Garmin, but to think they are bug free and everything comes to market with no faults is at odds with my experience.

To be honest, I really like the Race. I love the display and really impressive battery for an amoled watch. The digital crown is so satisfying to use. It’s whole new level… And back button! My god I missed this so much since a3p! Maps look great and they rotate as you move so much faster than all the competitor watches on the market. Great user experience!!!
I can’t really find any serious flaws. Only minor complaint I have is this altitude drifting when not recording activity. That looks like a bug to me, so I hope it will be addressed in some future updates…
I don’t have any insight into sales, but I bet Suunto race is already a big hit! Well done Suunto!

@Audaxjoe I have both a Garmin and the Race, and I like them BOTH.
I don’t even remember having any bugs on Garmin, or just maybe minor ones. My Garmin watch is very reliable (Fenix 7x, and I also have a bike computer from Garmin) and even if you try the beta version there are only minor bugs (and you can try the beta version which I find great).
On the Race, there are more bugs and they take time to be fixed with firmware updates. The problem with CTL, ATL is there from the beginning and should have been fixed by now as it is the watch face you get by default. I still hope there will be real alerts for structured workouts.
I know Garmin has more money but they fix bugs REALLY quickly when there are some in the betas, whereas Suunto takes longer to fix the bugs and is less clear about what new updates on the watch will bring and when it will be.
Also at first I thought the Race would replace my Fenix but no way unfortunately for now as I want the alerts during workouts, a map with names on it at least on the watch and some other minor things I prefer on Garmin. But I love the screen of the Race and how data can be displayed. And the Suunto app is better in my opinion. Maybe some workouts suggested each day sometime soon? -
@geolerigolo Like you, I own a Garmin Fenix 7x and a Suunto Race. I have not had any major bugs at all with my last two generations of Fenix watches and before that generations of Garmin Forerunners. So no, I don’t find Garmin to be very buggy at all. I also worked for Garmin for 12 years, though not in the watch group. So the thing to realize is that when you are the market heavy weight, you have a lot of users, and the people who post at all on forums are ones who have issues. So, bigger market, louder voices. Regardless, I find Suunto to be interesting but extremely basic. Nothing wrong with that but I think they could be more pro-active on providing small updates more frequently.

I have been using a watch with production firmware and my CTL/ATL are not a day off either on my Race or Vertical. So this is a bug that is not universal and likely more difficult to fix, however, other testers have noted this is fixed. Why my values are ok is unclear to me.
I agree on the intervals, one would think this would be in the API for the 3rd parties as well. Hopefully this will come.

Well finally I decided to go back to Garmin. The Race is an amazing good looking watch but somethings are difficult to understand…
Who knows… maybe next Suunto watch.

Why don’t they distribute minor bug fixes from time to time? And do they have any difficulties with software testing because most of the bugs are so easy to reproduce and should have been fixed before an update
These are rhetorician questions of course. As someone previously said - due to not so long lifespan of modern gadgets it’s really not funny to wait for so long for bugs to be fixed. I.e I was using my 9pp for 11 month before the last firmware update came and now I’m waiting for 2,5 months for bug fix

Waiting without knowing what will be in that next update? I have had a good offer to buy an F7X and I have decided not to wait any longer. I have already sold the Race

That would help many people here in the Forum. Posts like “in my tester Software there are no Problems” are not helping us all. The testers should not say only i dont have Problems that makes the “normal” users sad cause they have some problems. Suunto please work to fast updates!!!

Have you thought that maybe it’s the reality of the testers, that they really haven’t found the issue?
User base is usually much bigger than tester base.
If you are around the forum for sometime guess you already understood that suunto doesn’t seem to change for giving visibility on updates or delivering faster ones. It’s their brand they do how they want…if they believe it’s the better way and it matches their internal resources…
Then it’s upon each customer to accept it or move. -
@GiPFELKiND what’s wrong with saying my watch works? perception of problems is very subjective and what bothers you doesn’t imply the same for others. both situations are still legitimate though. yes, mine has bugs as well but again, I don’t care that much because the basic functionality works as intended for me or I do not care of that issue. like everyone else here I reported my problems and complaints once and now I sit and wait. What else can I do? bore others by asking the same things ad nauseam? no, this forum cannot help me to solve the known problems. try to flood support with your complaints or change brand if you’re so disgusted
