SOFTWARE UPDATE 2.33.14 - HOTFIX Q1 2024
-
Did update fixed the 10s always on display bug on performance mode?
-
Hi!
I’ve just updated my S9PP to 2.33.14.
There is still this problem, which I shown before:
https://youtube.com/shorts/WWndooC_npM?si=iVk_iql-2V-trkErResources on the watchface with them doesn’t update, till you open the widget.
P.S. After each update I reset my watch.

@Łukasz-Szmigiel all custom Sport modes went away… Try the update without hanging on the charger! Second try was okay!!! BUT ist there a PROBLEM by updating the watch hanging on the charger??? Perhaps??? Suunto should say Something about the workflow…

For any battery-powered device, I wouldn’t put it on the charger when updating, unless explicitely asked by the device’s manufacturer. If the update involves a reboot, the charging could interrupt the process and I guess that’s what occurred for you.

Thanks for the update, but on the information about ideal conditions for updating (battery level, no alarm in next hour etc) you should also include the advice to update when your resources are at 70%
-
@mlakis I wonder, why they wouldn’t do it so. If you turn on your watch in less than 1 hour after it was if, number of resources stay the same.
I can understand the reason of putting it to 70% if the watch were off for several hours. But less then 1 hour, or even less then 5 minutes?..
At least if I was a programmer, I would like to do it this way.
-
no issues with update. Custom sports mode and list of last sports used ok
-
All good for me too
-
Thanks for the update!
everything went smooth and problems seem solved.
Luckily, during the uploading to the watch the Bluetooth connection was stable (icon always on), without any random interruptions as the ones caused by the sync process, otherwise…
My customized Sport modes (3) are still there. -
@Tieutieu I don’t think the connection and synchronization problem has been fixed, I still have this problem.
-
Downloaded and installed without issue. Will test things out on run later today.
Thanks for the updates!
-
Hotfix installed on S9PP and Vertical without any problems, own sport modes are still there.
However, I had no problems synchronizing activities with either watch before.
-
All went well here. This was the smoothest update that I’ve had with the watch (SV).
-
Thanks for this. Updated smoothly on 9pp
Edit: reporting back that I charged to 100% and left it just to test and the watch stayed on as normal.

I think updates should occur when not charger; when the watch is on the charger it is monitoring battery charge to optimize battery life and that cannot happen when updating. It seems common sense not to update while charging unless specified. (Apple requires the watch to be on a charger) Second, if you restore to a safe state you will lose your sport modes.
The field testers typically have one firmware update each week. Restoring to a safe state does happen but not often so I rarely lose custom sport modes. This is an issue that clearly happened to you but not the majority of users as is clear here from the posts. If a problem occurs during the update the watch will revert to a prior firmware…this is good so you don’t have a bricked watch. -

Why should that be common sense? I would say that keeping your device charging while updating to ensure that you don’t run out of battery while updating makes good sense. This is what you normally do with phones , laptops and most electronic devices. In fact, I don’t know of any example where it is recommended to run your device on battery only while updating. Why should Suunto be different?
If this is really a potential problem with Suunto watches then the firmware should automatically disable charging while updating.
I in fact also left my watch on the charger while updating and it didn’t seem to cause any issues for me (as I would also expect).

This is really, really, really, really not common sense, I love tech so I deal with electronics all the times, and I specifically do the opposite, its been carved in my brain “do not update things if they are not hooked to a cable”.
Computer advise to be plugged., my smart vacuum can’t update unless its plugged, my former smartwatch advised to be plugged, phone usually advise to be plugged (not true anymore, but that was the case for a long time), the Suunto watches needing to not be plugged is really not a normal occurrence -
I don’t know why but I had an exercice done it in the watch and before the update, this exercice has not been sync with the app because it gives me error of sync, Then I’ve realised that de watchs shows me that there were and update. After the update that exercice Not Sync with the app. And curiosly the app suunto show me the list of exercices completely disorder.

I agree here, and in the manual of Suunto Race there is no indication about that, so it shouldn’t make difference, otherwise it must be clearly stated, since the updating is always a “risky” process. However, the watches are able to auto-recover after an error and that’s a very, very good feature.

if the activity was not synced with the app before the update, then it is lost : the FW update is cleaning the watch logbook and is letting in the watch only data summaries and no more any real data to be synced.
before any FW update, you must be sure that everything is synced.
