Ciao @Francesco-Pagano, you actually can configure the cycle time, both in the Suunto App and in the watch itself! Check it out. I’ve found particularly clever the way it’s implemented in the watch.

@fv4500 that sets the same duration for each breathing phase though. What I am referring to is a specific duration for each phase, for instance inhale for 2, exhale for 4, hold for 2 etc.
That would no longer be “box breathing” by definition, I know, but it would allow us to do different breathwork exercises.

I saved a short activity using Yoga / Pilates sport mode where I was using a HR belt, and interestingly the .fit file includes HRV data, which I opened with fitfileviewer. So I guess this app could be further enhanced to display HRV data on the watch or on SA.

Just to check how to extract basic HRV information, I downloaded the RR Intervals file from fitfileviewer (it’s a .txt file) and asked chatGPT to extract the data, it works pretty well!

@Francesco-Pagano agreed, in the past I’ve used box breathing and it was not a box, but a rectangle… apneas were much shorter than in/exhales. It seems that the S+ app we discussing is a box by design. Maybe in the future.

I just noticed this new app in the SuuntoPlus Store and I’m excited to try it 😃
It’s just a pity that you cannot configure a duration for each sleep phase, e.g. inhale - exhale - hold, but perhaps it will be improved later.

P.S. when I first installed, I couldn’t switch it on before starting an activity; I had to reinstall it a second time.

I know this is not the answer you’re looking for, but I practice breathing exercises for decades (coming from a martial arts background) and while box breathing is great to come into breathing, I would highly recommend NOT to concentrate on counting or seconds but on what you feel and how your inner body directs your breathing naturally and let it flow

I have long contacted support with a detailed proposal to add breathing exercises similar to the Wim Hoff method and at least something has been added. Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem to be for my 9 peak, there was a crash💩

Hmm I cannot figure out where exactly I can change the duration of a box breathing session. It says Settings, but where exactly? Can anyone pls advise? 🙂

                  Edit: found it.

Great tipp - I just created a other activity, added the box breathing and put on the hr belt. Now when the activity is synced to runalyze.com I get a neat chart:

I’ve noticed a bizarre bug in the last days.
I have added the BB app to my custom stretching sport mode, a single screen with 3 fields.
Sometimes, usually after pausing and restarting the activity (I still cannot figure out a pattern) the BB app starts in the background with vibrations even if it’s disabled.
There’s no way to stop it without stopping the activity
