I understand that Suunto Climb Guidance is NOT available (at least initially) in this new Run, right? 🙄

@Cédric. Absolutely. And even more so for a device that is supposed to be specifically for running.

@isazi Let’s hope so, otherwise future buyers might end up very disappointed.

@Sascha-Domres I don’t believe that the Ocean is Suunto’s flagship watch.
It used to be the Ambit Peak, the Suunto 9 Baro, etc., but since the 2023 production line, each model (Ocean , Vertical, Race , Run ) serves a different purpose.
I think there isn’t one that is better than all the others. They are all excellent at exactly what they are designed to do and fitted in every demand/budget of users.
              (Just my perspective)

Ocean - hybrid use Dive and multi sport
Vertical - rugged for extended outdoor endurance sports
Race - faster menu browsing when racing and “better” compact fit
Run - running simplest easier use

I like a lot this strategy and categories of Suunto!

I think we can look at this by how Suunto organizes their lineup. On Suunto’s USA site (if different elsewhere, I’m curious to know!), the models are organized like this:

                Sports & Training

                • Suunto Run ($249, last week, this first position was Suunto 9 Peak Pro)
                • Suunto Race S (starting at $349)
                • Suunto Race (starting at $399)

                Adventure

                • Suunto Vertical (starting at $499)

                Outdoor Essentials

                • Suunto Core ($219)

                Dive

                • Suunto Ocean ($899)

I can see the argument that Ocean may be considered the flagship based on price; however, that may just be a consequence of its specific functionality and possibly less overall popularity. One might consider the Vertical the flagship again, if it meets a combination of “highest price and quality” along with having a wider audience than the Ocean; I have no idea how much either sells.

On the other hand, perhaps the “flagship” here is the Race, as the most expensive watch in the category with the most models? I’m not sure how much the word flagship really means or what it should represent.

I do see Run, Race S, Race as ideally being almost a “good, better, best” lineup, although really Race and Race S are the same tier as it’s mostly just a size difference (and yes, the optical sensor, but in an ideal world these would have been the same, I’d expect a future “Race 2” series to be the same if two models were released concurrently). This is coloring some of my expectations; for example, in the Garmin world, if one compares the Forerunner 165 with the 265, are there features on the 165 not on the 265? I may be wrong but I don’t recall that. So with the Run / Race situation, viewed as a Venn diagram of features, you don’t have a clear “subset / superset” situation but instead a common middle area with both products having features the other one does not.

Run is ok, but for me the most important question. What color “Run” strap to the Vertical Ti? 😄

I’m still trying to figure out if “Coral Orange” is actually red? And “Lime” is yellow, not green, right?

Wouldn’t lemon be a better name then? 🙂

                        Thanks for clarification!

Im aiming for Coral Orange since my Vertical x Mammut is a bit used. Was thinking about black one too. Lime not bad, Frost Gray is meh… 😄
