Navigation with S9PP
-
I did quite a bit of researching on the forum and I couldn’t find what I was looking for, so I am posting this to ask a few questions:
- Turn-by-turn navigation: as I understand, this has never really worked with S9PP, or am I wrong? And did it change with the latest Software Update 2.40.38? I tried to use it with a couple of routes that I created last week, and I didn’t see anything different.
- Is it just my impression, or the option to switch on tbt on a route you import on SA is a bit more difficult to find with the 5.1.7 version?
- Did anyone notice changes with Climb Guidance? I have only seen a couple of notifications on a route I used last week for trail running, there were definitely more up- and downhills and it seemed to work better last time I used it (in Autumn).

Define work? It has previously worked, continues to work, just how would you like your work?
Previously, waypoints and turns were treated as the same thing by the watch. This meant that if you set an upcoming waypoint/ETE waypoint watch field, it would tell you distance to the next turn(by turn notification). Now they are split, so this no longer works.
In addition, TBT used to alert you of a turn 100m before the turn, and then when you reached it, told you the distance and type of next turn. Whilst people may not have liked it, it was predictable.
Now we are in a state where TBT alerts are only 20m before the turn, and won’t show up in any field - meaning you have no idea at any point when the next turn is, until you are right next to it. If you’re moving faster than a walk, this is too late.
That’s how nav is with the 9PP currently. Much worse than it was previously.

Not especially, but it’s always a bit hit or miss on rolling climbs with flat sections, splitting them up into orange and blue sections, rather than a red climb.

@The_77 thanks a lot for your reply! I never saw alerts before a turn, this is what I mean. And from what I’m reading I am not missing much
