Swim tracking still woefully inaccurate
-
I’ve been having issues since the December update. Previously the watch easily tracked my laps and turns during my swims. The December update broke everything, it stopped registering turns (despite ensuring I did a long glide at each end) and decided my average-speed freestyle was suddenly butterfly.
I keep rolling the software back, I even disabled OTA updates going forward, however at some point this week it updated itself and ate a bunch of lengths this morning.
Anyone else having these infuriating issues, or does it just seem to be me?
I love this watch, but it’s not going to be a keeper if it can’t do something as basic as count laps in a pool. My partner just got a Garmin, I might borrow it for a session and compare… really hope Suunto sort this out

@susanmould same Problem here. Thats the reason why i dont upgrade it. I use everytime the 2.37.48
and iam happy with it. I dont like the main carusell in the system UI. thats the main reason, and lots of Bugs.

@GiPFELKiND yes, that’s the version I have to keep rolling back to.

@susanmould yes its totally terrible i swim only breastroke but absolutly no count meters. Its very very bad i try everything. My old suunto 3 fitness perfect count meters i am very frustrated and really wait on day suunto.must repair it

Yes, many people wrote about problems with swimming in the pool, even I posted a few posts.
My SV started counting after sending it to the service in Prague.Of course, there are more problems that I have already reported in my posts and I am waiting for an update.
Recognition of swimming style … Suunto supposedly did nothing but I think something has been changed.
Currently, the recognition of the style is a big joke!
I swim “crawl” -> the algorithm recognizes “backwards”.
I swim “backwards” -> the algorithm recognizes “frog” (…)I hope that the next update will include at least:
- improvement of the current algorithm,
- learning the swimming style as it was in AMBIT3PEAK,
- heart rate zones for swimming,
- counting the length of swimming on legs only (without arms).

Same here. Swim stroke recognition and length count have become very unreliable, with the length count giving results between correct measurements (seldom) and ridiculously short (most of the time).

Hey there!
im using Suunto Watches since 6 years, and i’m very happy with it. Startet with a 9 baro and moved to a race a year ago. Still very happy, because most of the time i was running (about 30km a week). Then i startet cycling and despite of using a Hammerhead Karoo (3), my watch won’t recognize the cycling Trainings, which is sad but not a dealbreaker for me.
With cycling i also startet swimming, what brings me to this thread.
First i trained in a 25m pool. The the lanes in the 25m pool was recognized relatively well but then they changed the pool to 50m swimming lane. Since then, my watch counts way to much lanes. Almost double of the distance i actually swam (of course i have set it to 50m lane). This issue makes my training records really inaccurate. I am into the numbers so, this is a dealbreaker for me an i already thought about switching to garmin or apple.
But I read some posts, where they mentioned, that there will be a fix for this and im willing to wait for it, because i really like my suunto race… can somebody tell me if they work on the problem? Also i want to ask: is there the possibility to track the lanes manual? For example by pushing a Button?
In an other Forum the mentioned to turn on the “auto lap” function, could this help with the issue?Happy to be here and thank you for the support!

@onemore I’ve yet to try it in a 50m pool… if I roll the software back to the October patch, that resolves it. I don’t know how it updated the other day as I’d turned OTA updates off in the app… I’ve now resorted to closing the app and only launching it to sync the watch and closing it again immediately after.
