@Stavrogin forums are often used to look for solutions to problems, which leads to more negative posts than positive ones. For me, Suunto has always been an excellent device with an outstanding value for money.

When issues are resolved, it is good to give the feedback it deserves.

@nicovoim Official clarification from Suunto Support (quote):

“Starting from firmware 2.48.16, manual SpO₂ measurement via the widget is no longer supported on Vertical 2.
The removal is firmware-based, not server-side.
Any manual SpO₂ measurement still working after 2.48.16 is not intended or supported behavior and may be related to incomplete updates or edge cases.”

My watch was taken out of the box and updated immediately to 2.48.16.
Manual SpO₂ worked only a few times and then stopped completely, while sleep SpO₂ works normally, confirming the sensor is fine.

So if manual SpO₂ still “works” on some devices, according to Suunto this is not expected behavior and will likely disappear after a clean update, reset, or re-sync.

@AYHAN-YILDIZ i dont believe this… Cause what you write is not in the Vertical 2 description. And also not in the Firmware Update Infos. No official Statement there chanchings of the o2 measurement. It works like expected at the latest Firmware.

@AYHAN-YILDIZ this looks to be a response generated by large language model AI. LLMs are prone to hallucinate, which means generating perfectly formulated responses that look credible but are wrong.

                    @halajos Hello,
no — this is not an AI-generated assumption. This information comes directly from Suunto support and has also been officially confirmed via email.

Suunto has now initiated a technical investigation on the server (back-end) side to understand why, with firmware 2.48.16, a manual SpO₂ trigger that is not supposed to work is still functioning on some devices or accounts.

                    My own experience supports this:

I upgraded the watch directly to firmware 2.48.16 when I first received it

The first 3–4 manual SpO₂ measurements worked perfectly

Then the manual measurement suddenly stopped

Since that moment, it has never been possible to start a manual SpO₂ measurement again

This behavior strongly suggests that the issue is not a simple firmware bug, but rather related to a server-side configuration, trigger, or feature-flag change applied after synchronization.

Therefore, the statement that “manual SpO₂ was removed in 2.48.16” does not appear to have been applied uniformly or simultaneously to all users.

                    In short:
this is not speculation and not AI-generated — it is a confirmed issue currently under technical investigation by Suunto.

                      @GiPFELKiND hi;For clarity:
Manual SpO₂ was not working on my device. I performed a factory reset, and now manual SpO₂ works correctly via the widget.

It was stated that this feature was removed in firmware 2.48.16.
If that is the case, why does it become functional again after a factory reset?

I would appreciate a clear and official explanation.

Funny thing, I tried the manual Spo02 measurement on my 9 peak pro (on 2.48.16) and the thing promptly, immediately, crashed and turned itself off.

How the f**** is that considered even remotely acceptable ?

I hate, absolutely hate how since the last few years Suunto firmware stability just became a gigantic joke it’s so awful, it’s like they don’t even try it !

@AYHAN-YILDIZ @Elipsus I can confirm that the SpO2 widget is working on field test firmware. I have no idea where the information stating this was disabled was generated from.

@Sportsfreund I understand what you are saying, but there is a difference between seeking advice or help vs complaining.

But I agree which what you are saying partly. I would not agree that “Nobody goes to a forum if everything is great.” I came here and I think others have as well to lend support and celebrate Suunto.

Suunto Vertical, Vertical 2, Race, Race 2, Race S and Run. Rocking the Vertical 1 at the moment.

During an activity, the music controls cannot be operated via touch. Can anyone tell me where I can change the settings so that the controls also work with touch? Also, it seems that creating a custom battery mode isn’t possible on the V2, is it?

@tuxbuster It is not possible to enable touch for music controls during exercise. For all AMOLED watches custom battery modes are not available.

@GiPFELKiND İşte Suunto’dan gelen yeni geri bildirim mesajı

                                            Dear Customer,
Thank you for contacting us regarding the manual blood oxygen saturation (SpO₂) function on your Suunto watch and for providing your firmware version information (2.48.16).
We have confirmed the issue you described with our engineering team and would like to provide the following explanation:
First, we need to clarify the statement you heard online about the “feature being removed.” Your Suunto watch has always supported two blood oxygen monitoring modes: one is automatic monitoring during sleep, primarily used to analyze blood oxygen levels during sleep stages; the other is the instant measurement you mentioned, triggered manually via the widget.
Previously, some users encountered errors or malfunctions with manual blood oxygen measurement in certain firmware versions, mainly due to software-related issues. Our engineering team has now fixed this issue in the background. By performing a factory reset, you cleared any temporary data and configurations on your watch that might have caused the function to malfunction, thus allowing the correct function logic to work properly.
We hope this information clearly answers your questions. We are committed to continuously optimizing product functions and user experience through firmware updates. If you encounter any further issues, please feel free to contact us for assistance.
                                            Wishing you a pleasant day!
                                            Best regards,
