Battery drain - share your settings
-
Since the battery drain issue persists for many users, but not for others or it’s never even occurred for someone, I thought it could be helpful to share our watch and activity settings to try and spot some common patterns:
Watch: Suunto 9 Peak Pro
Software: 2.48.16
Model number: OW211
Hardware: 2444C4
Purchased in August 2023, battery drain* persists since January 2024, one or two charge cycles after installing the big FW update that included HRV readings for the first time.*about twice faster battery discharge versus previous patterns with similar usage
Typical activity use:
- 4 or 5 activities/week or ±8 hours/week run or trail run (custom sport modes) with GPS and Garmin HRM Pro belt; usually no app or navigation; backlight normal; battery mode custom (GPS accuracy Best, Touch disabled, Display timeout Off); Wrist HR off; Theme Dark; Media controls off.
- 3 to 6 activities/week or 2 hours/week without HR belt but Wrist HR on, no GPS.
Daily use:
- Notifications on
- 1 alarm clock at 06:00
- Do not disturb On between 22:30 and 07:00 (or occasionally during meetings, naps, etc.)
- Power saving On during bed time (typically 23:00 to 06:00)
- Backlight off
- Display brightness Low; Standby Off (though this actually works as if it was On); Raise to wake Off
- 24/7 wrist HR off
- Sleep tracking off - consequently, Blood oxygen and HRV tracking off, too.
- Suunto App: Android 6.4.7
Battery lasts max 10 days from 100% charge. Last year it lasted about the same time with Sleep tracking and 24/7 wrist HR on, but I’m no longer interested in using them so I don’t know if it’s still the same.

Not sure if you are only wanting 9 peak pro data
But I have the vertical with battery drain issue so will share mine.Purchased as a pre order when they first came out May 2023 I think. I would estimate battery drain started some time in 2024 possibly same time as the OP states.
Typical use approx 12 hour’s activity a week maybe 60-40 inside vs outside. Always with heart rate belt polar h10.
Daily use
No notification
No alarms
No backlights or standby or anything like that on
No pulse ox
Backlight set to lowest setting.
24 hour heart rate on
Sleep tracking onWhen first purchased battery would drain from 80% to 20 % in approx 4 weeks
Now it drains from 100% to 0 % in week or slightly less

Hello everyone, how are you? I’m experiencing the same issue. I’d like to add that while it’s advertised as having fast charging, in my opinion, it charges far too quickly, which speaks to its limited capacity.

Before the last FW update, battery lasted about 2 weeks but now it goes 100% to 20% in only one week.
Typical use is 3 or 4 activities (around 3h, mostly running) with Suunto HR belt and without map usage. During typical week, I wear it 7 nights but only 4 days (3 days in eco mode during working hours).HR 24/7 without SpO2
Raise to wake ON low brightness
Daily alarm and DND between 11PM to 8AM
Sleep tracking with HRV
Discovery mode OFF
Notifications ON/OFF 50/50Suunto App 3.5.1 (20789)
IOS 18.6.2 (IPhone SE)Usually, a day with 1h running with one night (sleep tracking, DND) costs 10 to 14% since the last FW update. Last weekend I got 45% loss in 3 days (only 2h training with GPS).
Since a single charge lasts one week, I don’t really care that much. But it was much better before (between 10 days to 2 weeks with the same usage).
