you need to update individual maps manually as expected.
Ok, maybe I’m weird but it wasn’t my expectation. Rather an automatic download when connected to wifi and charger…
But okay, you just have to know…
-
@2b2bff that’s how it used to be, but we decided to change it so that user control explicitly when to download the update, not unexpected downloads when you put your watch charger
-
Has anyone downloaded a new map for their area? Curious to know what the changes are.

Would be convenient for trivial download sizes, but when there might be multiple gigabytes, or even tens of gigabytes of map data, manual control should be mandatory and expected. This way you can prioritize the regions to update first, or not update at all.

I hope there is separate control to Update and Remove the maps. It is not clear from the above screenshot as it is cropped. Having to update the map first in order to be able to remove it, would be a major oversight. -
@pavel.samokha Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Poland?
These are very popular places with a strong outdoor tradition.
-
Updates will come in the upcoming weeks, it will take time.
I updated the post with release info.
-
@Squirrel good catch, I’ll convey this info
-
There are some areas in Türkiye that need updating. We’re waiting to see when they will be updated.

This was my biggest complaint to Suunto. My watch will be much more useful in the mountains now.
I really like how Suunto has really upped their game in the software department lately. New features every few months, great looking watchfaces every now and then. Keep it up Suunto!

@pavel.samokha
There have been a lot of requests for paths to be visible at greater zoomed out levels instead of disappearing but this isn’t on your list - is it coming please? I think that’s important and I understand it was previously the case until an earlier update/change. -
@MarkG Should come with the next firmware update. It’s software problem, not data.
-
@pavel.samokha downloading a map from the beginning will download the updated version? I am asking because I resetted the watch to defaults and then the maps started downloading again
-
@thanasis yes
-
@pavel.samokha Thanks for that.
