Suunto watches have a serious issue in routes with frequent stops under bridges, or in a dense high built spot. You stop, the speed on the watch drops to zero, stays there almost forever until the activity gets auto-paused. This affects the overall performance evaluation at the end of the activity.

      1. Make it so that when the speed gets zeroed, the activity is paused automatically. I don’t know with what criteria currently it pauses the activity automatically, but it is way too wrong.
      2. Provide the option for the user to select how soon after the speed gets zero the activity will be automatically paused.

This is a major drawback for me. It goes on like this with Suunto watches like forever, and honestly I am thinking on moving to something other than Suunto.

As long as auto pause can be disabled. I really don’t like auto pause. Usually during my athletics training I do stand still for some time (after a sprint) and I do want to record how fast my heart rate drops, so I want to continue to record my activity and not pause it.
I once had auto pause while recording a bike ride and in a tunnel the activity was paused, because there was no gps signal so the watch measured zero speed and auto paused.

That being said, I prefer some improvements in a related function. If I manually pause an activity (mainly during hiking) my watch sometimes gives a reminder that I started to move again but didn’t unpause the activity. But this doesn’t work very well. Most of the time there is no reminder after I continue and forget to unpause.

@elbee Perhaps you don’t mind it, but for me and the activities I track I need it. All other brands have it configurable, Suunto got it wrong.

Btw, Suunto watches do not auto pause when the GPS signal is lost. Confirmed with three different Suunto models, Race, Peak, and my old trusty Suunto 9 Baro Titanium. The time keeps going, but your speed is zero.

There should be a user configurable option for the auto pause. Manually pausing it is not working for every one. Many times I resumed the activity and forgot to resume the tracking on the watch. A real bummer!

But that’s o.k. If it is not possible I will turn to something else that suits me better.

I’m just here to say any change in functionality is preferable configurable,

When I bought my watch, on the map screen the datafield showed the distance to next turn. For me that was logical and usable. With a next firmware update this was changed to distance to end. For me, that doesn’t make sense. I know when I arrive at my destination but don’t know the turns.
I asked Suunto why they made the change. Support said someone suggested it, so they changed it.

With the last update they finally made it user configurable, so everyone can be happy.

And yes, the detect activity while on pause really doesn’t work well.
