For anyone not keen on digging, this is the photo that was posted on Reddit claiming that the Race 3 will be released during (?) Oktoberfest.

Picture is cropped on purpose. Most likely 3S, not 3 😉

No thanks on another “S” variant. I SMASHED the like button in the survey when asked about a bigger watch with a bigger battery.

@stromdiddily Why not? I think there should be a big and small for all watches!

@stromdiddily Its precisly the opposite for me, I have small-ish wrist (165mm circonference, small ish for a man, but imagine for a woman), and 43-45mm is already on the bigger side.
There’s already huge 49mm watches available, we need smaller, good quality watches, and the Race S is subpar (not Sapphire for example).

                  Maybe a Race 3S soon ?

Is this really a need? Or is it just a feel better thing?

I had non-Sapphire Fenix watches for 4 years and the Race S close to 2 years. Hadn’t have a single scratch on the glass during that time…

@2b2bff my Race S has some scratches. But it depends on the sports you do. Rock climbing for example is extremely likely to damage the screen…

@matram flashlight - it’s the one thing I really miss from my Garmin Fenix (particularly red flashlight)…I used it almost every night as I am old enough to frequently need a night-time bathroom break!

@2b2bff not according to my experience.
My Race S is pretty scratched, while my Vertical and Vertical 2 screens are spotless. I use all watches in the same way.

@HonzaS I tried Garmin Connect+ for 5 days (free trial) and realised it was hot garbage. I pay for Claude Pro for Ai coaching but would rather pay Suunto instead if their subscription plan was actually any good (but core features need to remain free)…

@Egika maybe it is not as easy, but it can happen: https://www.reddit.com/r/GarminFenix/comments/1wrd53d/psa_sapphire_does_scratch/

But as I said, I wonder whether most people just want it, rather than need it…

@2b2bff Definitely a need, I had a few watches before my 9PP, and all of them had their screen scratched before their 6 months, whereas my 3 years old 9PP is looking brand new.
At that point, a non-sapphire watch is a no-buy, no matter how good the rest is

@Elipsus That’s why I choosed in past bigger race instead of race s for my “not a big wrist”. No regrets. Maybe if I would work office only and wear it to run on the street - that’s ok.

@Tami999 main concern is during sleep, bigger watch are cumbersome, and i think that overly big watches look gaudy depending on arm size

After 3-4 days of sleeping with watch I cant imagine sleep without. Trust me :P.
I only loose strap by one hole. If I wear while sleeping my watch on same hole that I use during day, during sleep my hand… swell? (is that good word in english?) and my hand is red under strap. Like if I would wear it wery tight during day. Well its natural body reaction. During night, natural physiological process happens. Kinda hard for me explain it in english. But watch size/weight never bothered me during sleep.
