Race 3S & Race 3 rumours

cover screen to sleep or turn screen off
greater hr zone customization (Can choose lthr)
more details in some widgets
in my opinion a better pre workout screen
resume later a workoutThese all are not fundamental properties of an OS and just UX features. If needed, all of these could easily be ported back to Race 2 and Vertical 2. I guess the “resume later” could me more difficult to port.
OS literally means “Operating system” - not to be confused with the layer of user interface on top of it.
If we talk about fundamental differences in the OS, it would be things like music playback or some other features that truly depend on the OS internals - things that absolutely can’t be done without a very significant engineering investment.

-
@isazi People are still writing about that “resume later” feature somewhere, but as far as I’m concerned, it’s so overrated that if it gets added to the firmware and “live tracking” doesn’t, I don’t know what to make of it.

-
@martintrail yeah, of the two, I would use a few times a year “resume later”, and probably never the live tracking

-
@isazi And for me, it’s exactly the opposite. Everyone’s different

It’s hard not to post this, but on YouTube, the reviewer seems to be wearing Race 3S by mistake? I’m not posting any screenshots here, so take a look for yourselves.

There’s one on eBay in Feather color, so I think we can stop pretend it doesn’t exist

-
@sky-runner Good clarification, thanks!

@2b2bff I don’t say everything is good at Garmin, especially I don’t like how much you have to pay to get maps. But they do very different models with different capabilities. Also Hardwarewise, not only with software limitations.
-
Haha, I was kinda wondering if this all isn`t a plan from Suunto after all, letting really few online shops have some details here and there, another user who accidentally uses a new watch in a video, another one is allowed to sell or maybe only post them on eBay…who knows, as far as I can tell, it works, we are all hyped up!
Those pics on the Japanese site with the details of the watch and even the insides of the watch is nothing new as far I can recall. Before some other model we had such leaks as well… but now, this new amount of leaks is new.

I know this is off topic here, but I have an example of my past devices that is intentionally crippling the device experience for the sake of selling a more expensive device.
I had a Vivoactive 4 and later a Fenix 6S Pro. The latter had Training Effect and Recovery time, what the Vivoactive did not. Until you look at the FIT file in Runalyze. There you see that all the Vivoactive FIT files also have those metrics. Garmin simply does not make them accessible in Garmin Connect.
That’s simply greed… -
@martintrail you can also see the new watch on Instagram… look at the account of Hannes Namberger… he‘s wearing a new watch…
-
@jthomi Yeah, it’s a well-known tactic. In the industry I work in, they do it too—hide something in the code, post a blurry screenshot somewhere, and the internet goes crazy. It’s cheap and has a measurable impact. But we’ll never know the truth.

Iam not psychologist but Iam curious about next watches, but after all leaks iam less interested about this one :D.
I always wanted to give a try smaller Race watch, but lack of Sapphire was huge minus for me. Now seeing all leaked infos, i gonna stay with Race 2. I get used to 49mm which is a bit big on my hand, but still not oversized in terms how big watch should be to not looks funny.The more i know, the more I can think if i really need to exchange. If race 3 or 4 would hit tommorow, maybe becouse of “impulse” I would order right now.
Probably If I would buy first Suunto right now I would get 3S instead of 2.
PS: To be still in topic. Iam wondering if this new battery type was installed in Vertical MIP, how long it would last. Race 3S seems got nice upgrade over Race 1S.

Only six days left and we will know more, there is an announcement on Suunto Instagram about a new watch. Well at least I think its a watch, It could also be a head lamp?

-
@jthomi https://amzn.eu/d/0aaqdiLG
Available at Amazon since today
-
@GiPFELKiND That’s crazy. How can they already be selling it officially before they’ve even officially announced it? Only Suunto can do that.

-
@martintrail shipping at 21.10
-
@GiPFELKiND most interesting part:

At least we know what future update will carry (Race planner and offline music) -
Previous Amazon link does not work for me, but this one does: https://amzn.eu/d/02nLG6C1
Too bad the display stays at 1.32, I was hoping they would bump it closer to 1.4
